• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Start of riding season.

Well it will probably be another month before I can get the Spyder out due to snow both in front of my basement as well as the yard, it is time to start getting ready. I will soon do my oil change and was wondering if I should change the HCM filter as well as the engine filter? The maintenance schedule says at about 7500 km and I only have 2400, but it has been sitting for 4 mths. Thinking it would probably be a good idea, but wonder what others think? Even though it is earlier then schedule, due to our shortened season, the oil gets changed more because of the start of season then the scheduled change.:dontknow: Also received my BajaRon sway bar and should get my seal floorboards any day now. Getting pretty anxious!:yes:Thanks all! To those who are riding, enjoy! To those who are still waiting, it's coming soon I hope!

BMW is even more anal than BRP, so they specify that oil and filters should be changed before storage (and sometimes also after). I have never done so unless a normal service interval was near, though. I treat my Spyder the same way. If I used dino oil, I might look at things differently. JMHO

On the other hand, if you do change your oil and filter, BRP now calls for the trans filter to be changed as well. The early maintenance schedules called for chnaging it every other oil change, but that was superceded some time ago.

Thanks for the info NancyToys. I figured I would, but just thought I would run it by here. I can understand after storage, but do not see the point of before as it is sitting for 4 mths and it only had 1800 km on the oil before storing! Plus it is stored in a heated basement.

Hey Net, I am with you on that thought. Getting EXTREMELY ANTSY, as usual unable to rush things, with the snow in the yards/roadways, ice in the mornings on the roadways, and the sand/gravel on the roadways ( no sandblasting ) for my Spyder, but WAITINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG:bowdown:

You keep your bike in the basement ? Must have some pretty wide doors. I thought I was doing good in a heated garage, then a storage shelter ( tent ) to a neighbour who offerend up some free garage space, in lieu of helping him out with some house siding issues. The heated garage has played second fiddle for now, got all my updates and new rubber done last year before my Oregon trip, so am thankfull for the hard covered weathering protection ( garage ). Hope we RIDE SOON.:ohyea:

Yes have double doors and the Spyder just clears with 2" on each side! Will be building a garage next year, but couldn't wait that long to get the spyder! Was freaking snowing here like crazy this afternoon!:yikes: Hope you (and me!) getting some relief soon:thumbup:!At least the Spyders are in a covered resting place!

It is said that the products of combustion that get into the oil can be somewhat corrosive & it is better to have the engine sit with clean oil in it over the winter months when it is not used.

I was a research scientist for 47 years & get a discount at Holiday Inn Express.

Here is the list of things to do:

Scorpion 9000 alarm
Seal Floorboards

I am jealous Bob! A few guys from our Spyder club went riding this past Saturday as they all have garages. One of them (Pierre Poliquin) will be heading to Missouri, so you might meet him! Wish I could go, just don't have the vacation time. Anyway, hope you have a great trip and safe riding!:thumbup:actually snowing right now here!Don't know if winter will ever end!!!

It's getting harder and harder to wait for the driveway to melt here. Another 30 ft or so and it will be rydeing time again. :D
