• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ST-L in the shop

Just got an email...the dealer can not even look at my ST for about 10 days......Is it 5 o'clock somewhere?????

I just don't get the fact that Spyder owners over & over say that dealerships aren't looking at their bike for days. This is not to criticize the Spyder owners, but the dealerships. The shop manager at my dealership sends me an e-mail letting me know when I can bring my Spyder in (usually that same week). I bring it in & it is seen the same day. If the repair takes longer than a few hours, he gives me a loaner to take home until mine is done.

It just seems ridiculous that he would have your Spyder for 10 days until he can even look at it. I at least hope that they can remedy your problems. Not sure where you're located, but I had many of the same probs you described in your other post...Forrest at Elk Grove Powersports (Elk Grove, Ca.) worked with BRP to fix me right up. May be worth a road trip if this dealership doesn't pan out for you. Good luck...we're all pulling for you!!!

Are you related to Flamingobabe? :D
Flamingobabe is my: much better looking cooler in tense situations.... well sometimes... better half.!!!! We both love bikes... she washes mine, and I work on hers..LOL:shemademe_smilie:Seeing the USA and Canada on bikes is our passion!!!! 8 more states.. and we will have the lower 48 at least 4 times!

Actually .. I think we have a dog chasing it's tail... The body panels are closed in not letting the heat out...or taking air in.... this is to keep the rider cooler???... The gas gets so hot it is boiling in the tank and spews gas out when ya remove the cap and when ya fill the tank... that's not good..,... the boiling gas is less dense and leads to a lean condition.. I am sure this plays havoc with the ECM.. the bike runs lean anyway from the factory due to EPA... the lean condition heats the exhaust. . we can insulate the tank to help keep it cooler... but that reflects the heat back into the engine bay... this can not be good for all the components under the Tupperware..... this is kind of where we started......(I wouldn't think you would want to use the gas tank as a heat sink for the engine).. but.... the heated exhaust melts the brake master cylinder, parking brake cable and wires in the area....... and the fix is a heat shield for the master cylinder???? So.. where is the heat going to go?????? Am I missing something????? I' do not have a lot of confidence that a 'heat shield is going to cure the problems....it's a bandaid at best....FB's bike is surging at idle... from 500 to over 2000 rpms.... There is a lot more to this than a heat shield.....

What can happen is if BRP approved all your work then BRP can share that info with the dealer where my bike is...I will ask my case worker about Forrest at Elk Grove Powersports...thankyou

In the shop.. and 10 days before they can even look at it, and we called last week for an appointment to bring it in today.......... we will be making calls tomorrow, and looking at options....

stay the course

I hope they get to the bottom of all the issues so you can keep on truck'en or riding on down the road.
I live in a much cooler part of the country and have yet to have any issues with my STL other than an occasional stall while sitting at a red light and the dealer said that is due to tight engine tolerances and should go away after it is more broken in and seems to be getting better as i rack up more miles 4000 to date. It does get way hotter under the tupper ware than my Wife's 2011 RT.
any way best of luck Flamingo Babe:thumbup:

This sounds a lot like an air leak. Vacuum hoses perhaps?

My 08 Gs did that, But at under 900 it would stall, Ended up having to replace the ECM.
And that was a story in it's self...:banghead:

My dealer is a big Harley shop and they also do a great job scheduling work on my Spyder and getting it done fast. 10 days in the shop would not be acceptable.

We have crap for dealers here in Houston 4 of 5 dealers are the same owner and BRP is just a sideline for them... ..and the 5th sells more Hondas and bmw's than can am , it's a 30 min ordeal just to get oil filters for the spyder.... they can't seem to find them on their computer.... that is confidence inspiring.......... looking at options.... may be at least a 300 mile trailer trip....
