• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. SSA to be announced.....

Hybrid has already been announced as in the works--- 320 miles per tank...:2thumbs:

I'm leaning towards the leaning Spyder...:D

I saw the Hybrid announcement previously, I was just thinking a second, "Hey, we weren't just putting out a press release about vaporware, here it is in the flesh, we're selling it as a 2012 model for more money than you make but enough to earn a tax break." :sour:

As for the leaning Spyder... I'm really conflicted about that (and not because I just bought a 2010 decidedly NON-leaning RS SE5 :doorag:).

Yes, it's cool. Yes, it's probably fun. Yes, it's probably what's missing for many riders. Yes, it'll go far to finally shutting up insecure two-wheelers (if that sort of thing matters to people, of course).

But... BUT: wouldn't a leaning Spyder tank the sales of *regular* Spyders? I figure that BRP would run a serious risk of killing off 2011 sales if they announced a 2012 leaning Spyder (or 2012 sales if everyone knows it's a 2013, etc.). Not only would that cost BRP serious loonies, it'd also hurt all the investments they've made to date in manufacturing and tooling to support the existing Spyder design.

I know many riders love how the Spyder rides-- I know I do!-- but many of us, myself included, see the non-leaning aspect as an unavoidable, and perhaps unfortunate, compromise in the design. Like, if you could build a three-wheeler from scratch with all the computer doo-dads and safety devices this thing has, *why wouldn't* you build a leaning trike if you could afford to price one competitively?

Anyway, I know this subject's come up here before, this is just my two cents. I both want and fear a leaning Spyder so early in the game.

Yeah-- I'm not really too geeked about the leaning Spyder either-- not changing from what I have anytime soon. Thinking another 5 years and the Hybrid will be out and that may be my next Spyder.

I'm thinking the leaner would be more $$$ so as not to compete with the current models--- not to mention I bet that it's more than a few years away from production.

But you do have a good point about it 'killing' sales --- the RT has killed RS sales in many dealers.

SSA?

Southern Sport All-terrain Spyder...

Lifted 3", ruggedized finish on lower panels, belt fully protected from gravel, able to ford small rivers & streams, M&S Tires, integrated gun case but still able to fully operate at highway speeds ....

SSA the SUV Spyder !

And *you* just made me think about the solution: keep the RT platform as it exists today, but introduce the leaner as the sport version.

That might make for the best of all worlds for BRP (alas, and make for one pricey sports version!).

Due to the demographic of RT ryders the SSA will be on site at Maggie Valley to announce the next RT will be more like a Hovaround or Lil' Rascal and their new add campaign, where they can bill Medicare directly:roflblack::roflblack::joke:

Sorry I thought it was funny:roflblack:

Jim:thumbup:

AARP is expected to make a RS-op announcement later in the fall:roflblack:

Yes! You are right about this, but these are customers who were looking for a touring bike when BRP didn't have one to sell. Many of us bought the GS/RS and then spent $5,000, or more, making it into a touring model. The RT makes this unnecessary. In our minds we were not buying a sport bike. True sport bike sales were overstated in the first two years.

I have a GS/RS and a RT. This is the best of both worlds. The GS/RS is for cruising and the RT is for touring. The GS/RS is quicker and more fun to ride. The RT is more comfortable and much better for the cross-country stuff.

BRP may bring out something that would cause me to want to add a third Spyder. A hybrid could do this.

:agree:

I highly doubt it is a hybrid.
I highly doubt it is a leaning spyder.

We know that BRP makes all their Spyder model announcements in September right?

Perhaps though they are announcement refinements. Which ones we don't know.

I think BRP has a lot invested in this platform that they are not going to fundamentally change it this year or next. That is ok...

BRP could make enough heads turn if they just focused on refinements to the existing models... and maybe this SSA thing is one of them.

Refinements are probably different things to different people, but my list would include the following: (perhaps only as upgrade options at time of delivery)

Electric Reverse, enabling 6 forward gears and better mileage
Hand brake option
Hi performance option (the original output of our motor)
Factory turbo
Selectable VSS, twisties, rain, etc.

Maybe they are introducing factory customization like Harley is...

Just some thoughts.

:agree: but hope they allow us owners to go get some of them after market. :2thumbs:

HMMMMMM interesting but i don't think it's the handbrake option i thought BRP already ruled that out awhile ago?
