squeezing in some air horns

As the stock Ryker horn is not that loud, I fitted a few cheap air horns in under the front lid where they are not visible. It was a bit of a squeeze and the horns and compressor had to be moved here and there to clear the steering linkage, but it worked. Note: this will not work for the 900 models, only the 600 will have enough room to fit everything unless the horns are mounted externally.

That should be seriously loud, did you add a relay for these horns?

No. I did up the fuse to a 15 amp.

That is looking for trouble I think, usually the fuse is rated at what the wiring and switches can handle.

You went twice the amperage, I would be afraid of burning something up.

What amps are the horns pulling? Adding a relay would be very simple.

I did fit a relay for the compressor. I haven't checked but it would draw 20+ amps easily. I'll drag out the trusty clamp meter and check.
Without a relay the horn switch and the wiring could suffer. Putting in a higher rated fuse is risky at best.

It draws 10 amps. It will be fine. I just toot the horn on occasion. I don't rise with the horn blaring all the time! B-)
