• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone changed brake pads and if you have is it a very hard job ? Im tired of hearing these squeaky brakes.I wont show my spyder to certain people because of the squeaky brakes. I cannot believe CANAM will not fix this problem. I have a 2010 RT.:banghead:

Baja Ron's pads solved the squealing on mine and work great. Fronts are not bad other than the stupid little retaining clips, rear wasn't bad either just a little tight surroundings back there.

I would think :dontknow: A 2010 Spyder same with the Gen.3 pads standard. That was the cure for most Spyders with squeaky brakes, And some were covered under warranty.

Yes I have some new pads from Ron I was wondering how hard they were to put on. I guess I was venting a little also. If I had a company that had a good name I wouldnt want people talking bad about my product. First impression means a lot to most people. When you drive up to someone and it sounds like a cat hanging on to a chalk board makes people wonder what else is wrong. Thanks for your input I guess I will have to change them myself . I highly recommend BAJARON to buy from.

SB 2010-7 brake pads[/h]
Ok, This bulletin is not a recall or a safety claim but covers a new 3rd generation brake pad that helps eliminate excessive noise. BRP may cover these under warranty if a unit is low miles and still under warranty. Main thing here is that if you have a lot of brake noise there is a fix. The new BRP pads are updated with a vibration damper that rests against the back side of the caliper. Claims are being filed as follows.

1-Your brakes are making excessive noise
2-unit under warranty and miles are 3125 or under (parts and labor coverd)
3-unit under warranty between 3126-12500 miles (parts only)
4-On any spyder (GS,RS,RT) out of regular warranty=no coverage

Hope this helps , I am the service manager for a BRP dealer here in the Seattle area and I know there have been a lot of issues and questions from our Spyder customers. This site has been a great source for us as many issues that have come up I found here first. I will do my best to help you all out as best I can. Im limited on here with time so bare with me.

Graphite

Anyone try graphite powder?
Mine squeak but only when they are cold.
After the first stop the problem seems to go away.

Still squeal and I hate it

Dealer put on the 3rd gen pads many moon ago...this year while at Spyderfest and Cowtown mentioned to their tech my "hating" the squealing (on occasion) brake...suggestions when it starts do a quick hard stop...have and they stopped....haven't had a squeal since...if/when it starts again will do same ..:yes: don't you just hate when you are in the middle of the world and here comes that SQUEAL...!!!!

Brakes

I've tried everything to stop the squealing and skreeching. Backing up is horrible. I even put my foot on the brake hard while backing up to get it to stop. Have had the brake pads replaced once because of the skreeching but that didn't help either. AND..... :wrong:

just remember brakes are very important if you don't feel comfortable replacing them your self maybe you can as for help from some one on the forum that lives close to you i know i would help members in my area if they need some help

Mine were terrible. Since I had the 3rd generation pads installed (it will be two years ago in August) it's been fine.......

I used a simple procedure that i used to use on my 64 comet caliente. Run it in reverse and then slam on the brakes. Works for me:yes:

So far the new Semi-Sintered EBC pads I carry have been 100% successful at stopping the squeek problems for everyone. The thing I like about these are that you don't give up any stopping power like you do with the organic solutions that have been available so far.

It is not necessary to change the rotors if you put these EBC pads on, though the EBC rotors will further increase stopping ablity and they resist warpage and hard spots better than the OEM as well.
