Squeaks Up Front

Less than 600 miles on my Spyder and the squeaking from the front end gets worse by the day. Every time there's a change in bike attitude, the front end (suspension I suspect) eeks out a handful of annoying high-pitched squeaks. Even sitting still, all you have to do is rock it back and forth to get more of the same. "Normal" is a relative term for sure. But is this just something that has to be put up with or are there lubrication solutions?

You definitely have some dry bushings or suspension components. Take it to the dealer for them to figure out. This is not "normal".

Ken, I just got the same on mine. The sound is coming from the trunk area, on the left side.

I tried spraying down top and bottom of the shocks, and everything in between with WD-40, then silicon spray. I also sprayed the rubber bushings on the sway bar, per recommendation of a fellow member. No diff. I took of the skin that covers the foglights, and tried again. Brought it up to the dealer with the skin off, he looked and sprayed also. No diff. He came to the conclusion that it is the upper bushings in the "A" arm. He tried getting a grease gun onto the fittings, but even with the skin off it was impossible. He recommended I bring it up and they will remove the trunk and lube it.

Has anyone been able to get a grease gun on those fittings without removing the trunk?

Same problem here. I am going to remove the trunk and try to lube A-Arms as well. Will let everyone know how it goes...

You could try a 90 degree adapter for your grease gun, or install 90 degree nipples. You shouldn't have to remove the trunk for this. (There are a total of 8 grease nipples on the upper and lower inner control arms)

The only 90 degree adapter I could find locally is still too tall to fit on the grease zerks of the upper A arms.

my spyder and my outlander do the same.just fill the front bushings with greese.

Nope. The only one they had at the auto parts store was more of an adjustable angle grease adapter. With the moveable joint in the adapter, it still made the total height of the grease tip too high to fit on the Spyder. It sure looks like the one you are recommending will work good. Have you used that 90 degree adapter on the Spyder? I'll buy it if you're sure it will work.

I've been meaning to get 90 degree grease zerks put on the upper arms but they have been towards the bottom of my "to do" list.

I have not tried it yet myself with any adapter. The dealer tried it with a flexible hose with a standard end, but no luck. He told me to bring it up and they will remove the trunk and do the lubing. Sounds like it would be a good time to change all the fittings out to right angle ones.

I notice the nasty squeal on damp or humid days. All I do is go fast and then stomp on the breaks as hard as I can - it stops it for a while. I just keep doing that. On sunny dry days it's not too bad.
