There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spydie left us stranded for four hours today ...

Well, we picked up our Spyder from the dealer this morning --it was there to have a fender bolt drilled/replaced it (must have broke while riding from the vibrations we think), get inspection sticker, and to add brp handlebar riser. Well work was done and it was ready to be picked up...we went picked up the bike and decided to go for a ride to the New England Food Truck Festival in Salem NH about 25 miles from our house. Well we got to Salem and the bike started to buck repeatedly, throw dps, vss, limp home mode, etc.. managed to barely get over to the road side. Turned the bike off and gave it some time to see if we could restart-- nope. The electrical came on but it wouldn't turn over, dead. Went to call our extended warranty roadside assitance company and after an hour on the phone with them they tell us they cant find anyone in network to come tow us so we can choose to use an out of network person and only get reimbursed 100.00 towards our tow. At this point it's like 98 degree out, we've been on the roadside for an hour and a half so what choice do we have. We call a few local tow companies find one who can come to us within an hour--everyone else two to three and we wait. I call my family who thanksfull only lives about 20 minutes away and my Mom comes to save us and wait for the tow truck. By the time she got there it'd be three hours outside in the sun so we were very sunburnt. Get the Spyder loaded and hand the drive $200.00 in cash since he only accepts cash and have my Mom drive us home to our car and head for our dealership in Concord - Freedom Cycle to make sure the bike arrives before closing. It's now about 3:30 and we are just hoping they'll look at it prior to them shutting down for the next two days, and for the Wednesday holiday. When we get there the Spyder is already being worked on and service manager assures us he'll fiqure it out and get us running if he can.

45 minutes later ... everyone gone, shop closed except us and Spyder techs they find a wire has been rubbing against the front tire and causing it to throw electrical codes..thus screwing with the nanny, etc... they explain the bike isn't sensing the brake is being pressed and won't allow the bike to start - they get it to start up but then the throttle is wide open. So long story shirt Spydie is still at the shop, they ordered a new wire, new clips, and are going to start checking the electrical shift and throttle to find out why it's wide open with the smallest crank. They said they'd cannabalise another Spyder on sight for parts on Tuesday is need be. Thankful they were able to see it so quickly... just can't help wondering if the wire was knocked or improperly run after they drilled and replaced the bolt earlier the day before....causing it to rub. Brought it up with the service manager and he said anything could have caused it to happen but it was running fine up till it's visit... anyways they said they'd make it right. Everything will be billed under warranty and whatever cant be they will eat the cost.

So long story but Spydie stayed at Freedom Cycle and we came home to add Roadside Assistance with Trip Interruption to our progressive insurance. Not going to just depend on our Roadside Assistance through extended warranty anymore ... I'll only make that mistake once. Took the opportunity to upgrade our accessory coverage to 6000.00 as well.

Long Day for sure and now applying aloe to a nasty sunburn :( Tomorrows mission buy sunscreen to keep in frunk at all times.

Thanks for letting me vent !

Tough Day!!!!!....Sounds like the dealer is trying their best and willing to stand behind their work...That's all a person can ask..Good Luck!

SORRY

We've had AAA plus so far haven't needed it for our spyder although it did go to check engine 50 miles west of Lubbock. sorry to hear about your troubles. Glad you let us know keep us posted
:gaah:

Highest SPF available is a good place to start, I was considering paint as an option but found some 110 spray stuff. They probably did it but they seem to be taking care of the situation, good luck and happy travels

Sounds like a rough day, glad the dealer is taking care of you. Along with the sun screen recormend one of those small school lunch bags with the insulation and ice packs. I have one I carry on hot days, keep bottles of water in there. Was ridding all day yesterday in 98 degree weather sure glad I had the extra water with me.

We canceled our AAA, my wife ran over something in the road and it punchcard the gas tank.

This was about 6 years back, we had AAA platinum service, they where horrible, tow truck driver demanded cash, even ran my wife to the ATM on the way to the dealer. Know of others that have had issues too. We have progressive road side, only had to use them once no issues no out off pocket expense couldn't say enough good thinks about the service.

Fingers crossed you get your spyder back for the 4th.

Harry

Thanks everyone. It was a very long day and today we are both feeling the burn :) Added progressive roadside assistance with trip interruption to our motorcycle insurance, bought sunscreen to keep in the bike, and instant ice packs.

Hoping we will get her back on the 3rd so we can go out on the bike on the holiday. Was very jealous of all the other riders taking rides last night..we had plans to go to dinner and a movie on the bike originally but we went in the car instead.

Hoping that we wont ever need to use our roadside assistance again but at least now we know we have two options for it.

Freedom Cycle in Concord NH has been a great dealership to us-- we highly recommend them to everyone.

I'm glad you're being taken care of by your dealer. I called BRP Roadside Assistance once and they said they would send a tow truck, a little while later I get a call from the tow truck driver wanting to know if my bike had 2 or 3 wheels. He was not able to handle 3 wheels and he said the lady at BRP swore to him that the Spyder only had 2 wheels he called me before wasting a trip because he was pretty sure he knew what a Spyder was. My AAA is up for renewal and I guess I'll check with Progressive to see what their price is in comparison to AAA.

That bit about a wide open throttle sounde familiar. We were on the way to Durango via the Hoover Dam and parked for so photo shots. Hopped back on board and it did full throttle even though the grip position was the opposite. Turned I off then back on and no problem. Guess it had a brain fart.

Jake got the call from Freedom Cycle and parts never showed up for our Spyder today even thought they ordered them - so they took the parts off of a Spyder in the showroom to get it up and running for us :)
Since we couldn't get there before they closed tonight ( close at 6) they left it parked in their back lot with everything we need in the frunk ( reciepts, etc.) so we can go pic it up in a hour or so even though they are closed for the night, plus holiday tomorrow, and will hold onto our extra key till we get a chance to come pick it up this upcoming weekend so we don't miss out on riding on the holiday :)

We are really pleased with how they got the issue solved for us and quickly.
