• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

spyders running bad when it's hot out

i have tried many things to help this problem, including plus. wires etc. it would miss for a while during hotter temps after it was shut off for short time. because of this i did not care to drive in town very much. i have an 08 GS, the spyder was reprogrammed to 2012 specs, the way i understood. it has NEVER run so PERFECT as it does now. it seems like a complete new machine. temps at 90, start stop whatever, runs GREAT.

You are the second person to say that. Do you know what specs were reprogrammed? I also have an 08GS; but, did not have the problem you described.

five bars is completely normal. that's the function of the cooling system, to keep the engine in the correct operating temp. range. maybe three or four bars in colder weather.

:agree: Although I get 2-3 bars in the winter at 40 degrees I got 5 Bars in 90 degree heat with 70 dew point yesterday, which is about as hot and humid as It can get in Connecticut. Just changed coolant at 19,000 miles.

Although...riding with one of the 20~40 mph summer tail winds does suck when the heat index is high.

all i know is that my mechanic, who has known about my problem for over a year but could not figure it out, took my spyder into the shop last time up there and changed it to 2012 specs, told me to try this out and let him know it works. i will try to find out more info next time up there. do not understand much about these high-tech computer systems, but what ever he did it made a WORLD of differance.

where are these panels that we need to remove on the bottom . I just removed the curve dpanel behind the radiator attached to the tupperware today and I will see what that does . . I would like to be able to go to the ride with yall but some of us cant make it to see the actual install ;(

Check to see if the radiator and the oil cooler are clean. To clean a radiator use Simple Green and water. Wet down radiator with water and spray the front and back with lot of Simple Green and let it sit for 5 min. Then use full hose water pressure and spray it from the back to the front until the soap is all out. Do the same to the oil cooler. I do this in June, August, and September. If your coolent has not been changed in past to years this can cause the engine to run hot.

Personally I changed the coolant the other day ... cleaning of the radiator and oil cooler I really never thought of thats a good idea ill have to try that . I did remove a plastic piece that would have been blocking air from exiting the radiator last night . and at 55 degrees I still ran at 6 bars which in 90 degree heat im still at 6 bars so it doesnt go up past that so far, but im sure it will on the HOT HOT days if yall know what I mean . One thing I was thinking about last night which I know changing my air filter in my other vehicles typically didnt have a negative effect . But I also changed my plugs and wires (Baja Rons which they rock btw) But I wonder if changing the air filter may have something to do with it, possibly making it more restrictive to the engine not getting enough air in the motor . Sorry If I can throwing ideas out there but might as well brainstorm because either A. we are just mental and its normal operating temp or B someone has a real problem and might help down the road. Now I know my fan kicks on because well i see it spinning like a champ ....

splashpans

what i removed was the pan under the oil tank, and it,s twin brother on the radiator side. i would not remove the curved bowl shaped piece inside the radiator cover. it guides the hot air out of the opening, theoretically. it seems like it would make your right foot unbearably hot without it.

i removed the curved bowl on the radiator side hopefully giving it a straight shot and giving more "open space" for the air to vent out , but yeah im sure on a hot day im going to regret that decision right now . But when it was in the 50's last night I didnt really feel it I dont think I really wasnt paying attention

I,m sure you did BUT when you changed the Air Filter did you re-connect the hose in front on the air box?

Yes I did reconnect ... dont know about anyone else whos having the same ( Ill say this loosely ) problem . In my account for the raise in temp maybe my spyder was running at that 6 bar level the whole time and now im noticing the temp because I just changed the coolant and im paying attention to it hence the maybe we are just mental because I am sure im just being paranoid myself. Next time I take it apart to install the SPyder Pops parts Im going to double check either way .

RADIATOR CAP

Add away, that's what we are here for to be helpful to each...Right...:thumbup::thumbup: :agree: :2excited:........Mike

I just put a sock into the coolant tank nozzle HA HA HA JK . but yes we are here to help out and usually its something stupid that someone probably missed because they were soo happy to be back riding they may have missed. But unless my radiator cap is bad its on right LOL . Maybe Ill just order a new one for kicks I mean im sure its not that expensive and why not .

SO today the Spyder was slightly odd regarding my temp , which leads me to believe either A im just overreacting , or B something is a miss in my the cooling system .

Today I have been rocking that 6 bar thing which im getting used to because in cooler weather and sitting in hot weather it doesnt change goes to 6 and stays . Today after leaving the gym maybe about 10 min into my ride i look down and WHOA 4 bars in hot weather !!!! it bounced a bit from 4 to 6 bars the rest of the time . hmmmm :banghead::banghead:
