• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. spyders running bad when it's hot out

coz

two of you mentioned that your bikes run bad in hot weather, so this might be a common problem. mine runs fine when it's hot out, normally. i took my splashpans off underneath to let out the excessive heat, after lamont said it was ok to do. that was a year ago, no problems. blueknight911did a post in my mods about his h m cold air intake that's easy to do and dirt cheap. these two mods might greatly improve your hot weather ridability. just something to chew on. thanks again for your help with my problem:thumbup:...coz

Blueknight911 has a lot of great mods but...

HE REALLY NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST PICTURES!!!:banghead:;)

:agree: Taking the 2 lower splash panels really helps the heat leave. Hot and Humid here today BUT the atmosphere Instability and large threat of Storms (Which never happened) kept me cleaning in the garage.
ALL engines run better in cooler air just like well coinditioned atheletes?:yikes:

Will everyone please take pics of Mike's spyder at Americade and post them!

yeah we need to see this misc stuff. after swapping out my coolant tank and flushing my coolant it seems that I get up to 6 bars MUCH quicker than i used to . I also added some water wetter to try and help out a little... but maybe I need to add some more of that . what bars are you guys seeing on your spyder while sitting ?

90 and humid

and the spyder runs like a champ .... never more than 5 bars in town ... out in the open 3-4 bars ... no issues ... bottom plates removed also.

I've ridden in from 115+ in summer to winter snow during the year...ran reliably the same, spring and monsoon haboobs included.:dontknow:

Yes, put me on the list Mike. I want the intakes at Americade.

Mike,

I want the brake pedal the size of a football field; can you do that for me?:joke:

On a more serious note: Are your cold air intakes more for performance or to allow the engine to run at a cooler temp?

COLD AIR

Wyliec, I am the first to stay "show me the dyno sheet"....I don't go much for bar stool type racing hype and BS.....That said, my Spyder runs cooler according to the instrument pod read-out as long as I'm moving.....It does "FEEL" smoother and a little "PEPPIER" but that is subjective and would would really nead a DYNO before and after to prove it to me.......RANDY, I got you covered and I will also have the "FOOTPEG" thingy's for Holly.....:thumbup::thumbup:Mike.......I made my brake PEDAL smaller.!!!:dontknow: :bbq:

running bad in hot temps

i have tried many things to help this problem, including plus. wires etc. it would miss for a while during hotter temps after it was shut off for short time. because of this i did not care to drive in town very much. i have an 08 GS, the spyder was reprogrammed to 2012 specs, the way i understood. it has NEVER run so PERFECT as it does now. it seems like a complete new machine. temps at 90, start stop whatever, runs GREAT.

5 bars all the time....and no not a poker run.

When I bought my RS in April, it was in the 70's here and within 10 minutes of riding I was at 5 bars, but never went to 6. Now it's been low 90's and it still goes to 5 bars in 10 minutes but does not go to 6. Yesterday I rode about 120 miles, a mix of two lane highway with a little interstate, speeds mostly between 60 and 75 and practically the whole time it was at 5 bars. Does this lack of variation seem a little strange?

5bars

five bars is completely normal. that's the function of the cooling system, to keep the engine in the correct operating temp. range. maybe three or four bars in colder weather.
