Spyders Over Heating

I am about ready to buy one of these gizmos .... but, I have read hear and there about over heating issues with the Spyder .... any truth to this?

I live in south GA where it gets pretty warm .... high 90s with some days in the 100 + range .... are the Spyders abnormally hot, if you are stuck in traffic?

Nope..you should be OK. There are have been isolated comments but I didn't have any issues here in NC.

Hey I'm in West TN we see those temps as well and in fact the first 2 weeks i had the spyder the temps were 95-110 and i did not have any over heating with my SE5 but i did see 6/7 bars a couple times when waiting for a light/train to pass. I do know several people have had problems with over heating for various reasons but i've been one of the lucky ones i guess.

On my trip out west from East TN to Sturgis and then San Diego and back I had very few days less than 90 and quite a few over 100 with no problems. I did put a temp gage on my Spyder just to see where she ran and I would say around 210 is as hot as it gets with some spikes to 230. I've found ways to cool it down a bit since then and now I'm having a hard time keeping it warm enough. Time to put my lower splash panels back on. nojoke

In Pensacola and rode all summer with temps to the upper 90's. No over heating problems. Just keep a check on the coolant level. :congrats: on your decision to get a :spyder: . You will love it. :yes:

I've put hundreds or maybe thousands of miles on my Spyder while the temp was in the 90s or 100s. I think a lot of the earlier posts about overheating were just peoples concern over how many bars were showing up on their gauge without really knowing how hot was too hot (or how many bars was too many). I don't recall hardly any posts about someone's Spyder actually overheating and causing them downtime. Remember, quite a few of us were new motorcycle riders and not used to straddling a hot engine in the summer. What felt as if it was burning up to us was normal to many experienced motorcycle riders.

Though the bars get up there the engine on mine didn't overheat was on way home from homecoming in june heat wave were temps hit 105 in Mass no problems:thumbup:

Doesn't get much hotter than South Florida and I've never had a problem with mine over heating. Actually performed better in the heat than I thought it would.

i live in fla, where it is almost always too hot never had a problem, where my buell always overheats...............:yikes::congrats::b2b:

Mine never overeheated but those bars when they got all the way up drove me nuts. But so far (knock on wood), I have had good luck w/ my :spyder:

I had a lot of rides in July/August in Maryland...with mid-90s and the dreaded three HHHs...

I will say this...the vehicle is much more efficient when it's cold out...ryding in the 40s here is I guess like a cold air intake...the mileage seems to go up considerably...

As far as overheating, if you sit in traffic when it's in the 90s...you'll overheat before the bike...however, the bike will heat up substantially...as far as damaging it...I don't think so...

The only spyders having a problem with overheating is the ones with a radiator problem. I had to have a new radiator put on mine after it got all 8 bars.:banghead: The bike was almost melting my leg off. My dealer had to call BRP in Canada to help them figure out the problem, once they did they sent me out a new one. Dealers don't seam to keep extra parts for spyders on hand. No problems since.:2thumbs::clap:
