Running up the k's
:clap

n Monday morning we are going on a short trip to Watkins Glen NY about 500 ks (350 miles). We are staying at a quaint place Senaca Lodge in Walkins Glen.(great bar and food) do a few winery tours then home on wedesday.This is the first trip for the :spyder: my wife and myself although we had put many miles on our previous bikes.We have trips planned for Michigan in August and the to Gatlinburg in September. :yes::yes::yes:
That sounds like a good use for the :f_spider:. I picked mine up in Geelong, about 1000km away, the weekend before last and rode it home. I'd had the brake moved to the left side so I can reach it (right leg A/K amp).
The first day was about 300km to Albury, mostly freeway so I could settle into the feel of the :spyder2:without having to work too hard on handling. Speed is way too easy on the :spyder:. Keeping under 110km/h is nearly impossible.

It rained for the last 50 or so kilometres, but the HUGE Chad fairing kept me dry and comfortable.
On the second day we took the inland highways to Canberra. Great scenery and some more challenging roads. I found that the :f_spider:seems to fall down the camber of the road. A couple of times as I went over the crest to overtake, it ran very quickly to the verge. :shocked: I got used to it, but it was unexpected.
On the third day we took some country roads up the western side of the ranges to get into Sydney without trawling through suburbia. I learned about the odd low speed handling in the tight corners crossing the range. Not bad handling, just odd. I'd hook into what should have been a long sweeping bend (and would have been on my sidecar), and found myself unable to hold a line. I think it's just me getting used to the feel of the steering.
Last weekend we went to the :spyder2:'s first rally, the Winter at Nerriga. There's only about 5km of dirt road on the way in, so I really didn't get much experience. Nothing much happened, but I do have to get a lot better at cornering. I had hoped that my sidecar riding experience would have helped, but I corner like a newbie.

pps:
She had 2700km on the clock when I bought her. Now she's up for the 5000km service. I still have a lot to learn, but I'll be learning on the road and enjoying every kilometre of it. :yes:
Cheers;
Pogo.
