• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

spyders at pocono raceway

POCONO

So the Track people let all those bikes onto the Track at those speeds !!!!........By the way what were the speeds ????........Mike :thumbup:

At a 2:12 lap: they averaged a touch over 68 mph.
(The Math...)
2.5 miles equals 13,200 feet
2 minutes, 12 seconds lap time equals 132 seconds...
They were travelling at an average of 100 feet per second.
There are 3600 seconds in an hour...
So in an hour's time; they'd travel 360,000 feet.
Now: divide by 5280, to convert to miles per hour...
68.181818 miles per hour.

Looks like fun! But I'm still astonished at the # of riders that ride with NO helmets or gear :yikes::yikes:

You can't save everybody...
The best that you can hope for, is to NOT be near them when things get ugly! :yikes:

We did this last year on a Charity ride. H&K Groups ROCK N ROLL RIDE charity benifitting Autism & Spina Bifida. It ended at Pocono. 107mph with Sharon on the back. 525 bikes. We went out in 2 groups. OH BOY! The Syder loves the banked corners!

pocono

This is probably the 5th time we have done the laps at Pocono in 7 years. Pocono mountain Harley Davidson does this at least once every year. There are a few other rides in this area that also do it. The fastest my wife and I got up to this time was 90 on the front stretch.

Sure looks like fun. Please let us know in advance when it goes again.Drove on Watkins glen in 2009 was a blast but we were in the cage.

We had a group here do "Laps for Charity" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in January this year, I was on my two wheeler and the wife on the spyder. Let's just say at the end of 4 laps she said, "I could have passed you any time". I was in the 80's but SpyderAnn was faster. The spyders love the banking.

Back in 2009 I was able to ride my bike around the track at Talladega, Al. At the time I had a 2006 Triumph Rocket and it was a awesome experience. The banking if really, really steep.

Sounds like the Monster Dash at Daytona.

They've really spruced Pocono up since the last time I was there (2004)!

My Spyder at Bristol

It's a good thing there's not a lot of banking at Pocono. Nanny sure didn't like the 24+ degree banking at Bristol Motor Speedway.

About two weeks back I had the pleasure of doing a couple laps at BMS. The first lap was basically on the apron, but coming out of Turn 4 I got her up to about 60 and stayed maybe a quarter of the way up onto the concrete. Going into Turn 1 was okay, but going through Turns 1 and 2 at a 24+ degree angle with the handlebars turned ever so slightly to the left, Nanny said, "Hey buddy, you're about to wreck" and gave me the Limp Home screen and pretty much shut me down. Then I think I kinda panicked and hit the kill switch.

Coasting down the back stretch I turned into the pit area at the start of Turn 3. Realizing what happened, I did the "Key Walk" while taking a couple laps around the track riding in one of the track's trucks. That Silverado must not have a Nanny with a yaw sensor as sensitive as the RT's.

All in all it was one heck of an experience. Even rode her up onto the Winner's Circle area for a photo op. Now I have starting line picture of Katy and me at Martinsville, Talladega and Bristol.
