Spyders and Valkyries

The longer that I have been on this board, I've noticed that there are many ex and current Valk owners that have added a Spyder to their stable. Is a Valk owner more likely to look outside of the box?

Are there any other bike models or brands that members have consistently switched from or added to?

Well.. I still had my BMW K1200LT when I bought my Spyder. Had a Valk before the LT, and sold the LT for another Valk.

The Valk is the most bullet-proof big bike on the road. Rarely a problem, smooth as silk, and easy to ride.

The Spyder is an around town ryde, while the Valk is what I use for distance and reliability. Given all that's gone on, I just don't have the confidence in the Spyder to take it very far from civilization.....

Don't have a Valk but do have a GL 1800. Honestly I have ridden the Wing very little since I have owned the Spyder and really cannot justify keeping it. (may sell to a friend who has been wanting it). The Spyder is so much more fun to ride and I do feel safer on it especially around town. The Spyder will take me anywhere I want to go and just as fast as the Wing.nojoke

I went from a Valkyrie to a Suzuki M109R to the Spyder. But that has more to do with Lamont than anything else.

Lamont goes through a lot of bikes. I just hang around and pick the ones I like as he goes through them.

Still have mine... and you're right... mine has NEVER been in the shop for anything. 1998 - 2009 ... 12 years and counting.

I don't have a Spyder (yet)....but I still have my Valk and will never sell it. The Valk is such a great all-around bike...commuter, cruiser, tourer, hot rod... hyea: It's a shame Honda never did an 1800 version (Rune excluded)...

Whether we keep or sell the Boss Hoss trike if we buy an RT-S is still yet to be determined... :dontknow:

I think Valk owners do tend to think "outside the box" perhaps. I know quite a few Boss Hoss owners that had (or still have) Valks and I also noticed the number of Spyder lovers that are past or current Valk owners. I think it's the desire to ride something besides "just another V-twin."

Presently own 2 Valkyries and a Spyder could not see myself giving any one of them up. Wouldn't mind owning a Rocket III or a Boss Hoss however the present rides would stay. I'm not sure I would agree that we tend to think out of the box but more like we tend to want to be different and enjoy the attention they draw, of course the white knuckle acceleration helps a lot. I also would love to have a supercharger on just one of the Valks.

This one's my favorite of the bunch. I remember seeing that bottom pic in one of the bike magazines a few years back and really liked it back then.

Lamont - I wish I could justify that supercharger you have stashed under your tank.... guess that's for my next life. Pick of my latest Valk attached. Owned it for 60 days - had 10040 on the clock when I bought it, and I have already put 1,000 miles on her - 200 more than the Spyder, which I've owned for 5 months...

I had a Valkyrie Standard trike by Lehman, sold it to buy a new Valkyrie Interstate trike by MotorTrike. Bought the Spyder and am having fun with it. However, they'll have to pry the Valkyrie out of my cold dead hands.

The Spyder is a blast, but for long haul, big load cruising...nothing beats a Valkyrie, IMHO.

A Valk will always win the traffic-light derby. Seen lots of young guys on R1s, GSXR1000s and CBR1000s take on a conservative looking older-guy on a Valk (though it has to have an after-market pipe) and just get blown away. The wildest looking bike I've ever seen was a customized Valk that was on the Corbin site.

I looked at one in Springfield Mo last year that was blown, NOS, and had a automotive distributor installed on the end of a camshaft along with numerous internal upgrades. Salesman claimed it was over 400hp said the owner only used it to ride around town picking races with crotch rockets. Knowing what mine will do I could not imagine how to hang on to something like that.

all I can say about that supercharger is put a lot of power in a engine after the install my valk put 152 hp at rear tire .
but the best thing is the wife and I was headed home on the wing and gave lamont a call to talk to him about one of the superchargers and headed toward his house .after getting lost about 4 times we found his house and for the first time meet lamont .since then he has been one of the best friends me and the wife have . and it is all because of that supercharger:thumbup::thumbup:
