• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyderpops Strike Two

This statement does not make sense to me.
I don't think I need to crawl under my bike every time I ride it.
I can understand that spyderpops is on a trip on his bike, but I'm sure he gets his messages. He should have called him and discussed the problem.
I also can understand that some customers we might not want as customers.

Each to their own regarding what kind of inspection they do; or whether they do one at all. I am not saying you'll catch everything when doing one, but certainly you can see the obvious.

Just look at the endless threads about body panels not fastened; or uneven tire pressure, and on and on. Some of these things can be caught with an inspection.

. . . I can understand that spyderpops is on a trip on his bike, but I'm sure he gets his messages. He should have called him and discussed the problem. . .

I guess it is good that most of my life, there was usually a statement, when purchasing something that was to be shipped: "allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery" and responses from a business about a problem came in the form of a letter, mailed through the postal system. It taught me patience. So many folks want everything right now . . . and get upset when they don't get instant response.

Sad, because it increases the chance that they will be disappointed . . .

Harvey is a stand up guy. No product is perfect and there will always be issues regardless of quality (though better quality certainly reduces problems greatly).

The old saying; 'You can please all of the people some of the time...' etc., comes to mind.

I would be very surprised if Harvey doesn't make this right at his earliest opportunity. It would be out of character for him if he did not.

Hopefully, another old saying will hold true here. 'All's well that ends well'.

I have to add, Harvey is great in person and with his products. I was happy with the GS stuff and now the 2010 RT. I can only dream several others I have to deal with (not on SL, mostly) would half as well with customer service.
Just my thought

I just posted last week that my second install of the Spyderpop's Heat shield fell off again between Durango Colorado and Denver. After I posted this development, forum members came back and said that this had also happened to them. It would be nice if more people posted stuff like that so that others could make informed decisions before they spend money on Mods from vendors.

So this weekend I heard some plastic type slapping noise and went to investigate what it might be. After crawling around and looking up I notice that the Spyderpops "missing belt guard" had almost tore in half. There was no evidence that the belt guard had gotten caught in anything it was just tearing due to the constant turbulence up there in the belt area.

So anyone that has this mod should check on the belt guard to see if it is still holding up.

My spyder is always garaged so that did not contribute.

Spyderpop still continues not to answer the phone or return messages, both voice and email.

Tazzel,
I don't know what has happened with our communication errors but I am home now and ready to take care of your concerns. It would be nice to hear from you and have the chance to correct the problems.

You can call our number - 501-760-1234, I'm waiting.
Thanks,
Harvey

It's tough when you're a one man band. Pops wife travels extensively so she may not be there to answer the phone. Not all of us have the latest and greatest communications tools either. I still use a dumb phone for cell service and a land line. I don't always receive calls or voice mails. Ask Wiredux :banghead:. Some cell phones don't work "out of country".

He did finally contact you. He'll resolve your complaints.

Now, who was it that called me about a repair on a backhoe?

We have the heat shield on our RS. Three years several thousand miles later, I just noticed that the adhesive has pulled loose partially around the perimeter. Luckily some crazy glue was enough to get it back to our RV and I will secure it with some racers wire.

Heat and vibration will in time, kill most peel and stick adhesives. Add in some road grime, rain etc. It's just double sided sitcky tape, after all.
