Spyder will not move!

Picking up Bob!

My husband called and checked on Bob today and guess what... he is ready for us to pick him up. The hubby is going to get him in the morning. Wonder how long he would have sat there ready if he hadn't of called. It's just hard for me to believe that every time we call they were "just about to call us" or "just finished". ggrrr

Going riding this weekend rain or shine. :D:D:D

My husband picked up Bob this morning and so far things are good. YAY!!!!

I am definitely looking another dealer! When he asked the guy if they had put Bob on B.U.D. he hesitated answering him. Then when he asked if they had did the 2011-7 update the guy told him no that he didn't know that there was an update. They've had my bike this long and haven't thought to check for updates????

I think the closest dealer to me is the one in Greenville, NC which is an hour and half on a good day. GGRRRRR Anyone have any feedback on the dealer in Greenville?

I hope they plan on making the payment for the next two months.... If I have to go until December with something I just bought in May it's not going to be good... :(I'm really hoping it will be something simple. I love my Spyder and hate the thought of not having it to ride.

Sorry to hear,I just had same problem(picking it up today) was on a run to Ground Zero,it did great till on my way home check engine light came on and HE wouldn't move, the bike is only 5 months old,I love it but it has happen before ,safe home mode came on 3 times already, they checked it out and said cable was loose. I didn't buy this to be in a shop most of the time, I hope it all works out for you. Deb

Wouldn't disagree with you at all on what is likely the actual labor involved. However, their receipt for the warrenty work did show a six-hour labor charge, so I presume BRP must be okay with that. Or there's some sort of "adjustment" that goes on behind the scenes between dealer and BRP. Maybe six hours is the "max" and they're supposed to report actual, or some such thing. The part cost, just by way of note, was something like $1200 for the throttle body. Glad all this is happening under warrenty...

Anyway, Sharky (our Spyder's name) started up just fine this morning, back to his old self. Happy motoring resumes!
Had my dealer pull up the flat rate charge on Boss Web and BRP pays 1.5 hours to change out the throttle body on a RT. I knew it couldn't be 6 hours but if they were able to get 6 hours for that then more power to them.

Spyder problems multiple times

hi,

we bought a 2011rts se-5 in April. Before even taking off the floor-dead battery. Took dealer several hours to charge and he promised a new battery, never got. A week later, limp home mode, 2 trips to dealer to fix. By the time we got 600 mile service, parking brake failed, after 3 trips to dealer, now waiting on rear spring that was recalled, after 6000 mile service $850 bucks and new plug valve adjustment, broken rear shock, and 4th visit for check engine light, missing on start up and now stalling, we are getting disgusted, but all we want is to get her back...poor lulu...:( my husband had lung cancer and riding helps him forget about it, now we are afraid to take it out of the neighborhood. The dealer is nice and have picked it up several times free of charge, but it doesn't replace the weeks we have been without her....booooooooo now this weekend we are missing a rally.third weekend in a row....not everybody has time to wait while these dealers figure out what to do....I think it is a great concept...but soooooo many bugs....its a shame

Maybe we're in the wrong line of work, lol! :D

The dealer may be nice, but he sounds like a crook...and an incompetent crook at that! The 600 mile service does not include valve adjustment, and there is no way on earth it should have cost you $850. $300 for the required oil change and the belt adjustment and inspection would have been on the high side. You are being charged for work that isn't even on the schedule, or he mistakenly charged you for warranty work. If he fixed the battery problem, fine, but if not, he owes you a battery. Hold his feet to the fire. The parking brake spring is not a recall, just a warranty campaign. It should not keep your Spyder in the shop, and does not affect its reliability. Have it done when it is convenient. The throttle body update should be done, too. The repeated limp modes should be leaving some telltale diagnostic codes. A good tech can interpret them and make corrections quickly and permanently. The fault could be yours (riding the brake pedal), the Spyder's, or just continued battery problems, but it certainly should be able to be quickly diagnosed and remedied. If it is a possibility, I would find a new dealer.

Sounds like you need to be contacting BRP directly or at least trying another dealer.

I haven't looked up hours for changing out the throttle body but I can tell you it can be done in a hour, the hardest part it removing the air box. I think your guy has his hours a little crossed up, Thera no way BRP is going to pay those kind of hours to change those parts.

flat rate is 1.1hrs

Broken Down AGAIN!!!

My Spyder is sitting in the parking lot at my work in 1st gear!!! Can't start it, can't do crap with it!!!! I'm so disgusted that I haven't even called to have it towed yet. I don't know if I should cry, call a tow truck, shoot it, or turn it in under lemon laws!!!! I love this bike but it sure doens't love me.

Thanks

Carlo saw my post, called me and is arranging to have Bob towed. Going to give Brewer's Cycles one more try. Hopefully they will keep me updated on what is going on this time. Maybe they will learn something from the customer service Carlo has provided.

Thanks Carlo!!

Can you say idiot!!

Well, Friday the dealer now saying that the throttle update did not work (second attempt) and they had called canam and were told to replace the throttle body. The dealer said he expedited the part and will make it a top priority. Of course they are closed Monday so we will be without our bike until at least Tuesday afternoon if we are lucky, plus they still have to install the parking brake spring when it arrives, but today we were pleased that Carlo had called to reassure us he was going to contact our dealer tomorrow to make sure we are taken care of. I sure hope we do not have any additional problems after this. I cant take much more, I see that you had trans problems and this really makes us nervous.

I am sorry for your problems, but I am curious...you bought in April 2011 and now had the 6,000 mile service. You sure have ridden a bit...good for you.

Maybe you added an extra 0? Just curious. Hope all is well from now on. Oh, yes, the "off/on" switch works on BR1. Don't ask me how I know....
