I am thinking of moving for a bike to a trike. I am interested in ideas, thoughts and reasons for selecting the Spyder rather than a Honda Goldwing 1800 trike. Any pros and cons would be helpful for me in making the decision, especially from those who have extensive experience on each. Thanks in advance.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyders turn a heck of a lot better... Two wheels steering prevents a lot of the understeer that crops up in conventionals...

When you compare three-wheelers--there are some that say there is no comparison--since most are one in front and two in the rear. :spyder2: is opposite of course.
The big argument for :spyder2: has been that the :spyder2: is more stable because the two up front wheels.
:spyder2: does have a lot of safety mods that are not available on other trikes.
Price wise--:spyder2: is actually less than the other brands--and with the extra safety mods--the comfort mods available--it seem like a good option for me.
A test drive is suggested on all the brands you are interested in. That will help you make the right decision for you. A lot of bucks can be spent--you want to do it right the first time.

I have ridden my Gold Wing Motor Trike 60,000 miles. It is stable, safe and beautiful. I have had no problems with it...none. It handles well, rides well and I love it.
My new RT-S with 1,000 miles is stable, safe and is a beautiful machine. It has an outstanding engine and running gear. The electronics are lacking.

The edge the Spyder has over the wing is handling/safety. In everything else the Wing has it beat power, mileage, reliability and dealer network.
What about cost....the Spyder is cheaper than the wing up front but those savings quickly get forgotten once maintenance is factored in. So that leaves personal taste which is...personal and only you can put weight on that factor.

Take the MSF course for trikes & hacks - then decide. I did, and I'm on my 2nd Spyder.

We love our RT. I am a former 2-wheeler but injuries made the Spyder a "no brainer" decision for me. Plus, my wife loves it! Finally, I could buy a new Spyder (with added 5 yr warranty) for less money than a used Gold Wing or Harley Trike.
That is my endorsement.
Spyder RT for touring or the Spyder RS if you want a sportier model.

Seems to me that 2 wheels up front and all-round ABS is clearly better than one wheel when braking hard, particularly on a wet road.
I don't have any experience of owning a trike other than the Spyder and I've only owned that for a couple of months but it is undoubtedly an attractive trike to own and it feels safe and sure-footed on any road.
The RT is a thirsty runner, though, with not nearly enough range for a tourer, and the intercom system from BRP is both expensive and poorly designed. BRP's quality control is also questionable, looking at the variety and number of mechanical faults being notified here by new Spyder owners.
BRP is fortunate to have built up a strong brand loyalty among Spyder owners who readily jump to the Spyder's defence despite its obvious deficiencies. I am happy to count myself among those loyal Spyder ryders. :thumbup:

I've owned a 2007 Roadhawk VW trike and I must say that the Spyder RT-S handles far better. When going around a sharp corner on the Roadhawk, I had to be careful about powering through the corner lest I overpower and start skipping the front wheel to the outside. I can't wait to tackle Highway 12 between Missoula, MT and Clarkston, ID with my Spyder. 77 miles of beautiful twisties!!! :clap::2thumbs::clap:

Yeah but 10k plus the price of the Harley, speaking of which my Harley buddies have yet to break away from me on the twisties or for that matter anywhere else and they don't hold back, testimony to the Spyder...
I saw this machine demonstated at Annacortes WA last year and I was very impressed.I will be following its development closely.
