Even if you did take the "Mutt" off of your bike in Fort Worth; don't you think that the negative publicity, will come from around the Country?

it is your property, if deadly force is what it takes to remain your property then so be it. If the gun is legal & you have a
permit then the one on the other side of the barrel that should think twice before committing a crime. Yes my bike is only
an object but it is a very expensive one & i can't speak for others but i worked very hard for the money to buy it. Perhaps
if i were a politician & i could steal that much money in a day i would not care otherwise don't touch my property & i won't

New York only allows us citizens to use Deadly Force to protect our livesk or the lives of others... nothing in there about property!

first off i don't carry a gun because i would shoot someone, now as for being arrested from what i am told all you have to do is
lie, 'he said he had a gun', 'he said he was going to shoot me'......

If you are not intimately familiar with the law of the state you are in at the time, be very, very careful! If you shoot someone to protect your property in some states, you go to jail and lose everything you own in the civil suit that will surely follow.

And, again, I won't take a life to save my stuff . . . That is what insurance is for . . . but I'll save my life or that of another in a split second, and sleep well that night.

In the investigations of fatal shootings; I can assure you that the Police won't believe anything you say, that they can't prove...

The BEST you might want to try, is say that you "feared for your life.." The Mutt was younger, larger, and acting aggressively... in your miserable old, sick, diseased state; you feared a beating, that you'd never survive. :shocked: ***

I carry too but would only use deadly force if I thought my life was in danger. Also if someone stole my Spyder at gunpoint.... and obviously since they had the drop on me, I would let them take it, but should I be stupid enough to shoot the thief in the back, I know that I would be going to jail since the thief is no longer a threat to my life.

:agree: makes sense. As a future gun owner I've been doing a lot of reading/research. The USCCA (US Concealed Carry Association) and it's magazine stress over and over again the responsibility and the need to do everything you can to get out of a situation if you can. Only if you can't get out of it, and fear for your life are you justified. The responsibility is very intimidating to me, but I suppose in the final analysis I'd rather be prepared then be a victim.

Can't stop stupid! I'm next door to tx & more of a personal issue,(I'm not gonna suffer for their stupidity) jail,courts or otherwise. I'll protect my friends & family accordingly , but we put efforts into avoiding said dangers. I've personally suffered a TBI (Traumatic brain injury) that friends & family endured with me ,as a pedestrian hit & run of crooks fleeing a crime scene. It aint worth it!

North Carolina has the Castle Doctrine. It should be noted that the Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground are similar but not the same. Castle Doctrines vary by state. If someone breaks into my house and attacks me or a member of my family, I can use deadly force. Note that deadly force is not necessarily the use of a firearm. However, if that individual does not attack or threaten bodily harm but has intent to steal something, the use of deadly force is not authorized. The Castle Doctrine also includes my vehicles or any other place I am rightfully inhabiting. Wikipedia has a synopsis of state laws regarding retreat or defend.

Back to the first subject

In two cases I've heard of that stopped a car-jacking; one victim was not in the car yet and threw the car keys as far as they could and ran away preventing the theft. The second one turned off the car got out and threw the keys on top of a building next to the car and then ran. Both were unhurt and neither vehicle was stolen. Sounds like a good plan to keep in the back of your mind if you ever need it. :lecturef_smilie:

A very recent case here. Young lady was awoken to a noise outside. Saw here shed door open. Went out to see what was happening, guy came after her. She shot him. He survived and is currently in jail waiting trial. She was not charged because he threatened her life by coming after her. Unfortunately she had to sell her home and move due to threats from his friends and family.
