• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Sputtering at 4K RPMs

Mike3069 I will take a look at the oil sensor switch, the spyder is not showing any codes according to the tech that looked at it. I just checked the juice box pro and it does not have any error codes showing either.

Boborgera I am not sure, but I will ask the next tech to look at the spark plugs and the wires as I have been getting the maintenance completed at regularly scheduled mileage.

NancysToy the spyder sputters at 4000 rpms, and then starts to decelerate I cannot get it to go higher than 4000 rpms I switch gears to maintain the speed but maxing out at approximately 48-50 mph in 5 gear. I get the red oil light no yellow "limp mode" notification. Yeah I am going to another shop hoping that their tech will find something.

After the oil pressure switch is fixed, I would disconnect (not just turn off) the JB to see if that makes a difference. That is the only good way to rule it out. I'd aldso check all vacuum lines while I was there. The fuel filter could be suspect, too. It wouldn't hurt to replace it. Beyond that it will probably take a good tech, the help of BUDS, and maybe a little luck to find an answer.

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Hopefully it will get fixed... but I don't think your Spyder should ever see 5th gear in the range of 48-50 mph.

3rd or 4th gear maybe, but not 5th. Just a suggestion that you consider shifting at higher RPM's.

Again, sorry to hear about the problem, and hopefully it will be an easy fix...

Had the same problem with mine. Oil pressure light, limp mode. Problem was, it would do it at random times, and usually it would not do it when at the dealer (go figure). Replaced the oil sensor, and all is well.

I would like to thank everyone for the advice and recommendations. I purchased the oil pressure sensor and had it replaced it this am and everything seems to be back to normal. Back to loving my spyder!!!

This was the same problem we had with the 2010 RS , REPLACING OIL SENSOR TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM. With ours even thugh it went into limp mode there was no limp mode indicator or codes. Tech put in on Buds and confirmed the problem quickly.

It sounds like you have found the most inept service department yet reported here on Spyderlovers (and that is saying a lot!). Your Spyder had a very minor, easily diagnosed and easily fixed issue.

Your service department, on the other hand, is in serious need of replacement! :yikes:
