• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder RT-S Crash

You are one tough cookie! Thanks for sharing your story, as it is a great reminder for the rest of us to wear safety gear and to drive defensively. Mend quickly my fellow spydie.

Glad you made it out as well as you did and hope you heal up ok.

I used to live in that area and was back there just a couple of weeks ago. What road on Loudon were you on?

Take care!

Wow, glad you are OK

:yikes:Glad you are OK.
So riding this afternoon on a nice country road in Loudon County Virginia A Jeep came around a curve a decided to tend to his child in the backseat. He crossed the yellow line and there was no where to go. A 3 foot ditch on the right an a jeep coming at me on the left. He hit the left front wheel pushing it tight against the trunk. Witness' said the bike and I did a somersault together and then we separated and I did 2 additional somersaults and then slid for what seemed a mile. The Spyder did 2 complete somersaults landing on its wheels. In the end the Spyder is no more and I have a broken left foot and lots of road rash. There is truly something to be said for the Spyders safety as a bike. Rescue was truly amazed that I was up walking. Now I am a firefighter/EMT and did a mental assessment of my injuries as I lied in the road and could not believe all was working. The bike was towed and I was transported via ambulance to the hospital for a full work up. I will post some pics when I am able to see the Spyder. The driver of the Jeep was charged with wreckless driving. I am happy to be able to share this story with all of you.

Finally got some pics. Not sure if they do justice to the damage.

Echo the good thoughts... need more Virginia Spyder riders, and need them *safe.*
In the end the Spyder is no more and I have a broken left foot and lots of road rash.
May I ask what gear you were wearing? Always looking for recommendations for tough stuff that holds up to accidents.

Really Glad you are going to be ok. As a firefighter also I know we both have been on scene where things did not turn out this well for the motorcycle rider. Take care and hope you heal quickly.

I would like to thank everyone for your well wishes and prayers.
Now to take a moment to update everyone and answer some of your questions.
saw the doc today and all is healing well. Four weeks to go in an air boot for my foot. Road rash is healing nicely and bruised hip is still bruised and swollen but doc says its mending.
Insurance adjuster is still scratching his head as to what to do about the bike. As others have said on this forum, they are at a loss with Spyders. So we will wait and see.
As for riding gear, well I have been a t-shirt and jeans rider for 30 years. Even though only 2 patches of road rash on my back it's enough to make me change my ways. I would not recommend this learning experience to anyone. I was wearing boots and glad I was or I am sure my foot would have been much worse.
I will let ya'll know how it all shakes out whenever it does. Stay safe and thanks again for all those thoughts and prayers.......they worked real good :2thumbs:

OMG :yikes: So glad to hear it wasn't worse. I remember when they used to say mc riders were unsafe drivers. Cages are now the ones mc's have to watch out for. Heal fast!

Glad to hear that the recovery is on track!
I might suggest playing with Kelly Blue Book's website (www.kbb.com) to get an idea of what your bike should be worth...
Now; good luck with the adjuster!!

So glad yours injuries were not worse. The bike can be replaced, and yes spyders are so much safer. Take care, heal and hope to see you back on the road.

I'm glad you made it out as well as you did. Going airborne is cool but the landings aren't. Hopefully they can fix your bike also.
