There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder RT driver leg room vs Goldwing

Well, visited the local can-am / honda dealer hoping they had a Spyder RT, but no luck.

One of the four MCs on my list is the Goldwing. I love everything about it except one thing: My legs just are not comfortable bending back with the butt forward. For such a large MC, why does the cockpit feel so tight? I have a 34" inseam, which really is not "tall" (6'3"), but I am really uncomfortable on the wing.

Any wing or former wing owners out there that can provide a comparo of the GL 1800 and Spyder RT driver leg comfort? Of course, if the RTs would show up I could see for myself....

Thanks for your assistance,

Jack

I can't help with the comparison but there are 2 RT's on the showroom at Shawmut Hills Sales in Grand Rapids, MI. Its only a 3 hour drive from Chicago. One is silver and the other is blue.

There's at least one on the floor at Leaders marine in Kalamazoo, and that's even closer.

I have both and am only 5' 10" with 32" inseam.

Both are uncomfortable and maybe the RT is slightly worse. The RT saddle seems to cut off the circulation in my right leg after about 75 miles.

Third party fixes seem to be the answer. Go over to GL1800Riders.com and find Dan Duffy. He has a link "Getting Comfortable" for taller riders. He's now a MOP distributor. I have the Kury mounts on the wing and have Kewlmetal on order for the RT. Or you can do what Lamonster has done and make your own pegs for the RT. He posted here http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23813.

:agree:.. but a set of ISCI's floorboards solved the fit issues. They have 4 different height adjustments available, so I just dropped to them their lowest positioning and have been happy ever since. :2thumbs:

I appreciate all of the replies.

The ISCI floorboards look great, but at the better part of $1000, yikes!!!! A bit much to spend after spending $23K plus for the bike!!!

Comfort for tall riders

I found the Seal Floorboard to work for me. I am 6'6" tall and felt uncomfortable with the normal foot position after a couple of hours riding. With these boards, I can shift my foot position as I feel like it.

Perhaps I am missing something, but their web site shows:

Plus the brake lever, plus you have to chop off some original metal, way beyond my comfort level dollar-wise, tinkering-wise. They do look well made and would certainly fix the problem, but...

I tried a GW trike and absolutely hated the leg stance on it and I'm not tall...5'4, I have sat on an RT and its a tad better, I prefer my VN900 cruiser position with floor boards. Manufacturers are coming out with hiway pegs and floor boards for the RT, when I get my RT I'm going to try the suggestion of some who say resting your feet on the wind deflectors works for a resting position but with only a foot brake I'm not sure what thats going to be like.

I think that those are the ones for the RS model...

I just added Seal Floorboards to my RTand find them to increase my comfort level substantially because my legs are no longer bent toward the rear. I think a special is now running that will save $35.00 in shipping costs.

We're pretty fortunate to have a couple of good choices available for alternate feet placements... Thanks to Seal and ISCI there are options!:thumbup: (And I'm sorry ir I missed anybody, but those are the 2 that I'm aware of...)
