• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

In this video I show how to remove right side panels and install gas tank bypass vent hose.
I have used this install successfully on my 2013 Can Am Spyder RT and on other's Spyders.
(Note: Cutting the 3 hoses off top of canister is quicker than prying them off).
I hope this info helps other Spyder riders.

I have not done that to my 2010 -- but I did the mod on my '08 and what a difference it made! I did not use a fuel filter, but used a plastic fitting to join the two pcs of tubing together. And it was very easy to run it out the front as you show.

Very well done thank you. I have 1 question. Why run line to front rather than down or to back?

I used a 5/16" steel gas filter (to prevent dust/dirt/water sucked back into gas tank vent), so 5/16" size is to large for stock canister drain hose that goes down & out up front.
I ran a heavier duty 5/16" gas hose up front to keep it away from exhaust pipes/cat area.
If you use a 1/4" steel gas filter you can connect it to stock canister drain hose. You want the gas tank vent hose up front out the bottom of Spyder.
Exiting in the rear you may get gas fumes sucked up in the riding area.

What benefit from doing the RT canisterectomy?

I have a 2011 RT-S and have had no issue with fuel smells coming from the bike except for fueling up.

Is there a performance benefit?

Coming out of steel gas filter hose from gas tank vent it was a straight line going forward by the coolant tank, then exiting as far forward as I could get, exiting out the bottom. (Same as you did).
Do you have the Purge Valve hose plugged? If not you may be sucking air in from your drain hose.

per my diagram, i only cut into line #26... i did not touch the other two lines... should i have...??? if so, which one... and what would the next step be... as it sits right now, i have no more 'gas smell' issues... but 'yes' i agree, i could be sucking in air from the down-pipe... :popcorn:

The next step would be to install a 1/4" steel gas filter replacing your "T" connection; (you already have the 1/4" gas tank vent hose run up front exiting out the bottom.
Cut the Purge Valve Vacuum hose off top of canister, put seal tape around threads & screw a bolt into hose to plug it.
Then its your option to remove canister after cutting off drain hose from top of canister; (opens up space under right panels for cooling air to brake master cylinder).

Nice video but the only issue I seen was the fuel filter added was hanging low in a dip in the hose. If any fuel was to escape out the hose it would lay in the low section of the hose and that could accumulate in there and then could be pushed out all at once. The hose should go up and over the air box to prevent the low hanging section. Great job though!

No, the gas tank vent hose steel gas filter should not be raised higher over the air box, (then the vent hose would be higher than gas tank overflow connection).
Just lower front section of drain hose & zip tie off.

Why not? I thought it was advantageous to tie the vent hose high near the airbox so that any accumulation of fuel could drip back into the tank, instead of down the vent hose....
