Sad to hear. Always sad to hear about a rider losing their life, regardless of what they're riding. RIP. :pray:

So sad, this guy died probably due to a distracted driver. If the driver was really paying attention, they should have seen him!!!!
Prayers for the family and the rider!!!!:pray::pray::pray::pray::pray::pray:

my dad s a volunteer for pima county sheriff going to call and see what he knows. sad just sad looks of the crash the van had to be doing at least 30mph if not more.

I have the ability to ride after most are already at work. I try and limit the riding I do on the weekends as well. I also wear hi-vis when I can, and always ride with all the lights on. ATGATT.

But

......I also wear hi-vis when I can, and always ride with all the lights on. ATGATT.......
Ah, yes, but the driver has to be looking at the road! My last accident was a kid looking at the light, not at the road.

I think the law has to really crack down on distracted driving. And new drivers need more instruction on the dangers and responsibility of that huge machine under their control.

I am shocked every single day I am out riding how many people are SCREWING with their cell phone while driving. If a car is driving out of their lane or off onto the shoulder, the majority of the time they are SCREWING with their cell phone.

I truly believe it should be illegal to be handling your phone while driving. Then again, I am amazed at how many people I see putting on make-up (looking in the mirror) or distracted doing something other than DRIVING.

Idiots......

In most places, it is illegal to use a cell phone while driving. Here it is a $500 fine. The problem--no one enforces the law and the accidents continue to happen.

Other than distracted drivers the other thing that scares me are old people. If the driver was indeed 76yo. You gotta wonder about their reflexes and vision. I'm on the far side of 55 and I'm noticing a slight decrease in ability compared top my 20's.

So very sad

:pray::pray::pray: for the family.

When I saw the wreckage, my only thought was "How could speed NOT be a factor?!?" Report said that the van hit the Spyder [instead of Spyder hitting van], which would make sense as the driver was thrown off - but looking at that mess, how fast was the van traveling when he hit the bike?!? :shocked:

But I think the biggest factor may be the TIME ... 6:18am. And it said the van was eastbound before making the turn. I don't know the area, but I would imagine at that time the sun is smack in your face. Something all riders need to be aware of - if the sun is low in the sky and at your back, odds are the good oncoming traffic can't see you.:(

It's just so sad that a lesson like that has to be reinforced by a fatality.
