According to BRP it's not an "issue" at all. Works just how they made it to.

Unfortunatly they forgot to tell us all this fact when we bought it here in the US.

Now all the TMU or EML (true mileage unkown or exceeds mechanical limits) owners will take it in the shorts at resale time.

Thanks for the note - I wonder how much it will effect a trade-in on future BRP Spyders, as we upgrade to the 2015 Spyders, for example?

Will only matter if you roll it over.

Then if you do, you'll have to check the trade in guides at the time to know.

It still must be marked "Exceeds Mechanical Limits", which has come to be associated with much higher mileages in this country. I am absolutely certain it will impact retail prices...and probably by more than you can imagine. The used vehicle market is a fickle friend, logic seldom enters into the equation..

TMU (at 50%): $4,600
Based on the Street and Touring Expected Accumulated Average Mileage rule, a bike made in 2008 with over 750 cc engine displacement should have 10,600 miles. Every additional 10,000 miles dropp the trade-in value with $1,000. At 60,000 miles the trade-in value is ZERO!

In Jersey if my clock rolled over, and i sold my Spyder, Motor Vehicle
would put TRUE MILEAGE UNKNOWN on the new title,
If i was to buy a vehicle with that on the title i would want a steep
discount , and even then i might not buy it at all.

In theory a shady individual or even a dealer could purchase a new cluster or even just swap one out with another unit. Like maybe the cluster on a demo unit swapped with a unit fresh out of the crate. Suddenly that demo only has, meh, 25 miles.

This is true, and although these vehicles are required to be marked as TMU, unscrupulous people could rip you off. Another note, all those who had to have their failed clusters replaced now own TMU vehicles, too. Too bad BRP did not program in a backdoor to forward the mileage. I chalk it up to being unfamiliar with road machines. Did I mention how much I hate digital odometers? Can't even read them with the key turned off.

I was thinking the same things, since they keep a history folder of error codes and events. Something like BUDS surely would not have an issue with a number like 100,000+ km, or miles, and more.

Who would know this - Surely someone knows someone that is a tech at a Spyder dealership who could, perhaps, help answer some of these questions?

Even if it can, there is no apparent way to transfer the reading to the odometer. Only the reading on the odometer counts under the law.

I doubt there would ever be an easy way to transfer. An unscrupulous dealer could take advantage of it.

The BUDS show the same miles as the digital display (212.4). I did not have the same issue like nickcaro's display, floating between 62,xxx ,the new low mileage and back on the 62,xxx's. :thumbup:
