• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Pops Rock Guard WARNING

While I still consider the Spyder Pops Rock Guard to be a good investment, it does little to protect against the rock chips used to "chip seal" roads. As we (see "Oregon/Aug 2013 trip) were forced to slowly traverse many miles (16) of newly laid chips, we can attest to the large number of chips that got into our drive system - each sounding and feeling like you just blew a gear. My riding partner, on his RT/AC SM5 had to dislodge a rock from his rear sprocket, when we pulled off into a gas station at our destination, fortunately, (this time) I did not have that issue.

The good news is that these chips were generally small enough not to cause any serious damage, as we completed another 1,000 miles without incident.

I am NOT suggesting that the guard doesn't provide protection, it's just not perfect - be aware and prepared.

If you are referring to the "Missing Belt Guard", there is nothing in the description that says that it will cover the belt 100% from debris. It does give you more protection as you state. Thanks for your heads up, though.

If you don't live in an area of wide spread "chip sealing" this would be a new issue to you, as it was to us… nothing "common sense" about it - just a "heads up".

Good to know..!!

But it did keep the big ones out..will watch the roads in Oregon under repair...Sounds like the trip was a good one otherwise..

The missing belt guard does what it was intended for the occasional rock in the road, i personaly with or without the missing belt guard avoid the chipped rock roads "if Possible".

I have done two long rides on fresh chip and seal roads. One in Indiana that the rocks were in piles high enough to bottom out on in a few spots :yikes:. No problems even without the rock guard. But I know it was just luck or I was riding so fast the rocks were not able to keep up with me before they dropped.
