• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Limp Home mode shows up in Fords!

Scotty: So sorry about those limp mode royalties. I guess I owe you for about five events. I will use akspyderman/pal to pay. Please forward me your SS #, mothers maiden name, and bank account #. I will deposit the funds in your account upon receipt of the information. :roflblack:

limp

USA today article on the problem with some ford engines going into" Limp Home" mode has caused a safety recall for them. Cutting power to the engine causing problems. Seems like the Limp Mode is trying to find another home..maybe it gave up on the Spyders. I think BRP was getting the best of it and it moved on. A couple of years ago the Fusion (I had one) had throttle body problems with many of the throttle bodies being replaced under warranty.

Someone mention throttle bodies? between Forrest and myself I think we have replaced at least seven!! Limp mode?? I seem to remember ryding along about 55 in heavy traffic with a dump truck nipping at my heels when i immediately dropped to under 20mph; if there was no median grass we would have been another slick on the roadway

A couple of riders I know just left their payments under a rock by the fork in the road... ;)

I haven't had any problems with either my Fusion or Spyder. Hopefully, never will. Since they are parked next to each other in the garage, I just hope if there is a problem it doesn't "limp" between vehicles. Dale

The very first limp mode i have ever experienced was on a 04 dodge 2500 hemi, it would run fine for 3 hrs, then without warning it would go into limp mode and would not go over 40mph, took it to every dealership i could find, no one could figure it out, i got rid of it!!

First one I experienced was with a 1996 Dodge Caravan. The tranny put it into limp mode, and limited it to 2nd gear and about 20 mph. It was a long drive to the dealership 12 miles away. It never came home...traded it in on the spot, despite warranty coverage for the trans.

Remember to retard the timing on the magnito and carry a spare set of generator brushes and you will never get a limp mode!!!

I had the same problem with my '89 Plymouth Voyager and '94 Caravan.

I had one recently on my Expedition. Limited it to 50 mph until I got to the dealer. Quick fix and back on the road. No trial and error needed.
