Spyder Lift Jack

What can I say, I'm a tool freak. If there's a chance that I might need it before I misplace it for good... I have to have it, LOL. My electronic water level sat in it's box for years before I built my last deck. After all, a bike jack that I can slide in from the side and with a few pumps have all three in the air and be able to move it around in my garage with little effort, is worth the $69.51 to me.

You're welcome.

Thanks for the coupon code lyonsden... Just purchased the jack and the coupon still kicking....
You're welcome. I think the coupon is good until March 12th.

kevorama my jack came with the instructions and I still used the front of the box. It actually looked a little worse to put together than it was I thought. Glad to see everyone get the good deal!

I have the Harbor Freight jack and I am disappointed with it. No matter what I do, it drops the Spyder instead of lowering it slowly. Anyone else having this issue?

Do you have an oil leak or is it low on fluid? Mine goes down rather slow. What happens if you depress the pedal partially instead of full down?

Well, if you call it instructions, it sounds like the same thing that I had. It was more or less a parts blow up diagram and it didn't even show two of the washers that slide over the shoulder bolts.
I do appreaciate the coupon and mine seems to work really well. I hate to skimp on something that has my $30,000 bike off of the ground, but the Sears one was the same price if you take the $40 coupon code out. The more expensive ones are just lighter and made out of aluminum alloy, at least the one's for the average shade tree Spyder mechanic, anyway.

Harbor freight ATV/Motorcycle jack

Received mine this morning. Assembly went well, poor diagrams but the picture on the box did help. Tried it out and it does a good lifting job on the spyder, ATV and my golf cart. I was also disappointed with the very fast 'drop' when I went to lower the platform. I will see if I can find a way to slow that down. I sure would like a little more control over the lowering speed. I want to thank those who posted the coupon. It is always nice to save $40.00.

Thanks lyonsden

Just used the coupon today. Jack operating great, makes it easier to hug my new baby!:2thumbs:

After hearing about all the 'fast drops' I went out to double check mine. I stood on the lift and used the handle to pump it up to height and then depressed the release pedal. Yeah, it does drop a little fast, agreed. If you've ever hit a pot hole that fast drop is nothing. It's still a pretty smooth landing as long as all your wheels and tires are on. If the fast drop bothers you from full height you can always drop it to the last safety catch notch, pump it back up just enough to release from the catch and then drop. You're almost on the ground at that point. Just thought.

I have had that same problem with several Harbor Freight junk jacks. They will never get better if they leak down. HF is good about exchanging them, though. I went through five bottle jacks last year before I got one that held. In the end, it can pay to buy the Craftsman.

Fast drop

Called Harbor Freight and spoke to a manager. He pointed out a difference in lowering technique. Push the release all the way down and the jack lowers slowly. If you push the release 1/2way down the drop is very fast. Tried on mine and that is the way it works. Seems others have complained and this is their response. Wish that was in the instructions.

speed of drop

The less expensive jack from Harbor Freight does not have a handle like a typical floor jack. It has a lever/peddle that you step on to lower the jack. What works is to step on it all the way to the bottom and the jack now lowers much more slowly.

Mine has the lowering instructions written right on the jack. It says to completely push down to lower slowly. Maybe the sticker is missing of of yours.:dontknow:

Want to thank you for sharing the coupon info . Ordered mine last night and splurged for two new jackstands seeing as my 40 years old ones have apparently been misplaced for a couple years. How do they deliver 70 or more pounds for $7 and some vendors charge $10 or more to send something in an envelope? Oh yea, Capitalism. Guess that'll work ok. I got a laugh out of the shipping options. $6.69 or something for standard, $150 two day and almost $250 overnight. Not bad for $100 purchase minus the coupon, plus the jackstands, shipping and tax! They must have a big old warehouse in Georgia, so we get to add tax. My 25 year old Sears jack is still working, but it looks so old and decrepit that I think it's my twin brother. I'll use it for an emergency backup, which I hope never happens.
