Spyder is worse than an ice cream truck?

Agreed dumb article. I tried to comment but it wouldn't let me. My comment would have been: The commercial refers to getting your "operators license" they do not say motorcycle license, in fact, BRP always refers to the Spyder as a Roadster never as a motorcycle. My state issues a cycle license with a 3 wheel endorsement allowing me to only ride a 3 wheel cycle. This is the case in most states.

Well he may not be interested in a Spyder at this time in his life but you never know about the future. Never say never. Besides what's wrong with driving an ice cream truck. He probably don't like puppies either.:D

The Authors job description says (for J & P cycles) he is supposed to find out what their customers want and gather information on those products.. He obviously is too busy writing silly articles to do his real job and that would cause me to boycott his employer for fear of what garbage he might put out.

I've gotten this attitude from the long grey haired die hard Harley riders. These narrow minded indivuals feel like we are posers impeding on their sacred traditions. When in all actuality we just enjoy the wind in our face and the ride itself.

This is a Quote from his 3rd paragraph:

"Now I’ve never claimed to be one of the most intelligent individuals on the planet ....."

Enough said!

A wonderful article written by a true armchair motorcycle critic. Thanks for the quote above--we can surely see how smart this person is (at least when it comes to Spyders).

You've all seen the CanAm commercial--to me it does not imply that this is the way to get your motorcycle endorsement. I sure would not spend 20K to get a spyder so I can get my motorcycle endorsement and then go home and ride my big v-twin or something like that.

I am surprised that J & P cycles would print this kind of trash on their internet site. Did you read some of the comments? Some are doing a pretty good trash number on 3 wheelers.

If you look at their catalog--you can see the company caters to the cruiser market. I am suggesting that the article is a very good reason to not purchase from J & P.

I will throw in a vote for Motorcycle Superstore as well as checking our website sponsers first for anything. I surely won't buy any more product from J & P.

Just my usual .02

Haters gonna hate, but I do agree with him that "there’s absolutely no way people taking their test on these three-wheelers should be given a motorcycle endorsement."

He commented after watching a TV ad!!!! During a televised Supercross…. That's two for two…. Wouldn't let me comment either… I wouldn't been so polite...

I can't believe JP would slam any type of bike :cus: -- many Spyder owners have several 2 wheelers in addition to the :spyder:
I will think 2X before going to JP for parts -- Mean cycles is faster and has better prices anyway

In my field we call this building up a strawman: you take someone else's words and twist and distort them to suggest they said something silly which they really didn't say, then you come in as the big strong hero to tear down that strawman.

I don't see the issue with taking your test on the Spyder. Everyone of us that has rode a bicycle when we were a child already knows how to lean, balance, countersteer and put our feet down when we stop. It's not that hard of a thing to do. Besides these things any 7 yr old already knows, what is different ??? If those people are going to sit and complain about this, maybe DMV should make us take a test for every type of motorcycle we drive. Cars and trucks to. Because everyone of them handles and performs differently. Even having my M endorsment and have been riding for years, getting on any other bike when your not fully comfortable you sometimes feel like you could wipe out at first. Remember when you first drove a spyder ??? I bet that was a wakeup call right away wasn't it ??? We all thought we would know how to handle it but we found out quick we did not know squat. By you having your M endorsment and then you get on different bike make it safe enough to hit the highways ??? I don't think so. Know the bike and the basics and the only thing I would change would be to have every rider have to log a certain amount of hours BEFORE trying for a motorcycle license. This is what they do in NY before teenagers try for there road test with cars. Everyone of us knows there is no substitute for experience no matter what you ride.

Well from the younger generation let me be the first to say the guy is an IDIOT..:spyder:Any real person before passing judgement would investigate, communicate :chat:. :cus::cus::cus:,:cus:judgemental:cus: is what I would like to say. I enjoy my :spyder2: and I wish I had not damaged my body in the Military and could enjoy a 2 wheel non customized bike. The problem is I got the spyder and :2thumbs: I can care less about any other type of bike, let me think enjoy the ryde, or watch the ground for bumps and cracks which could toss me..:spyder2:it is now who enjoys the ride more????nojoke who enjoys the ryde more:ohyea:

Not all states give the general motorcycle endorsement without a restriction - NY lists a restriction to 3 wheels if you take the road test on 3 wheels.
