• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

* if you are disturbed by the effects of road salt, please move on to the next thread and skip this one *

* please, if you are they type that never lets their bikes get dirty, never rides in the rain or when its below 30, you just wont understand this *

I spent a bunch of time looking at winter options...
chains, spikes, studs, special winter tires, etc....

In the end I gave up and figured I would just not ride in the snow. Well that plan only lasted until the first day the white fell. I instantly hit the road to see what it was like.... and o' boy what a f-king nightmare.

The next time it snowed, I waited till the plow came by and dropped some salt/sand and it was manageable.

So I have not stopped.

Today was the most epic commute in the snow and I have some photos to share.
Yeah, its challenging.
Yes, people think its crazy.

Do I love it?
Hell Yeah!

I have learned how sensitive the throttle can be in slippery conditions and the difference between using HP and torque to get going. I wonder if the folks at BRP ever thought of this. If they made an all wheel drive Spyder or at least the ability to install some ATV tires, I would be unstoppable.

the photos are on a facebook album, but you do not need an account to view them;

Dude, you're nuts! :clap::wrong:roflmao
I've ridden snowmobiles for the past 36 years, but don't think I'll try the Spyder in the snow.

That was one nasty commute home today. A few nimwit cagers who couldn't drive slowed everyone else down.

Nick, this is for you! :firstplace::cheers::bowdown: BTW, nice pics. I loved the underbody LEDs reflecting on the snow.

And I've been told you do it on I-95 on a commute to NYC every day- I don't like going there in my truck.....

I-95 is a very rare occasion for me. I'm up near Danbury, so my ride is; 84, 684, Saw Mill, Henry Hudson and the West Side Highway in Manhattan.

of course there are about 100 different variations of that, but that is the basic plan.

:2thumbs:i think you as cool as s - - t you are one bad dude very cool:congrats:welcome:clap::clap::clap::spyder2::yikes::2excited::cheers::cheers::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Nick, for some reason your facebook link sends me directly to my own Facebook inbox. Haven't figured out yet how to get to your pics.

As much as I detest road salt, I don't mind seeing other folks riding through it. :D

Awesome pics.
I finally got to see the pics after logging off of my facebook account.
I was wondering how the Spyder handled in the snow. An AWD Spyder could be interesting.
Love where you got the LEDs above the rear tire. Do you have more anywhere else? I am trying to decide where to put LEDs on my bike.
What kind of Helmet is that?

Thanks kalavera, Yup Bruce, that is what you have to do. Log out of your account first and then go to the link. You can see that poor snow covered spyder. That is by far worse than anything I've driven my spyder in. I had a little bit of trouble at the end of my driveway the other day with the snow on it, I can't imagine trying to go any further with snow covered roads. Nick, you win the winter snow spyder award, and I believe tatt2r still holds the winter cold rider award.

Thank you kalavera and Deb. I did as you suggested and was able to open the pics. All I can say is :yikes: ! I found myself staring at those photos with a kind of horrified fascination. They are excellent - as I would expect from a professional photographer. Nick, I think you are deranged, and I say that with the greatest respect. :2thumbs:
