Well, my friend and I took our wives and their Spyders to the Drags last evening. We took his Porche 928 and the girls bikes are both 2009 SE5's. One is stone stock, the other has bags, hindle, and tall windscreen.
A good time was had by all.
They really drew a lot of attention that is for sure. We had a lot of trouble getting the Spyders to hook up at the line. They would spin and then bog when they did hook up. I ran 3 - 14.70's in a row with my wifes with the hindle. If not fast, at least very consistant! My friend ran a little better with his best being a 14.30 with their RS. Top speeds were just under 100 mph.
Oh, and the Porche ran low 14's also.
Next time the girls said they want to try it. They both just passed their roadtests here in NY this last week and aren't quite ready to do 100 mph yet. Both have logged over 1500 miles since we purchased them at the end of March so they do pretty well on them, just not race ready quite yet!
All in all, the spyders ran pretty well with no mishaps. They ran respectable times for what they are. We feel that with a little tuning (juice box) and lowering tire preasure, etc. we could get them into the mid 13's. We didn't want to touch tire pressure on this trip because the spyders were ridden to and from the track. A little over an hour each way.
