• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder DPS Poll

How's your DPS treating you?

its my 1st time on here in a while..sorry...its spring !, hopefully i can ride tomorrow.

Had the same experience as mxz600 last fall before i put the Spyder away

The Spyder began to drift , as I tried to bring it back from crossing the center line it seemed to not respond. As I put more pressure on the handle bars to get it back it all of a sudden jerked back to the lane. I took it to my dealer to get it checked out, no codes.

sorry i can not yet vote, i will be back at the dealer if i feel ant stickyness at all.

159 no problem or fixed
22 still a problem...

that means that about 88% of the people responding have a properly running bike and only 12% have an issue. I don't think the ratios will change much from that no matter how many other people respond. For that matter, it'll likely go over 90% as that is the trend as more people reply. Usually those with a problem will respond first...time will tell...

So, is probably less than 10% an acceptable number? NO...not one bike is acceptable if it is a danger to rider safety!

It does look, however, that the vast majority of spyder owners either have never had, or used to have the problem, and this gives us a good perspective of things...

BRP has some work to do...let's hope they get it done soon! This is far too serious of an issue!

I have a 2009 with dps problem but never posted about it because i figured everyone has heard enough of it.It happened about 3 weeks ago.Talked to dealer and he called brp and they told him to replace dps so its on order.I will let every one know what happens.

DPS Poll

Believe it or not there are still many people out there that own spyders who may not own a computer thus they cant respond to this poll. Others such as myself are barely computer literate and got lucky enough to find this site.(Even a blind hog will find an acorn now and then). Still others that do own computers just dont like going to forums such as this. The only truely accurate way to know how many people are having the DPS problem is for BRP to come forward and release the info. In the end this will benefit everyone involved. Just my opinion.

I highly doubt there is anywhere near 50% of 2008 models having such problems.... seriously--- these forums would be over-run with people posting about the problems--- and they just are not--- it's the same dozen folks doing most of the complaining.

IT's those folks that will make sure they resolve the problem too. Dont forget that...

And the US government... NHTSA that many of us have reported to (which initiated the recall). The NHTSA filings have done more than any complaining on any website.....;)

Why would you care either way about 'Acorn'-- considering you're a Canadian:dontknow:. You do understand that you live in a different country than us don't you? :roflblack:
i care about acorn cause it's manipulative garbage and ya i know where im at, unfortunately some birdbrains on your side want it to be like my country which sucks.

:hun:

What good is a poll if someone is only going to manipulate the data in an attempt to prove a point:dontknow:

:roflblack:

Some of this nonsense, ya' just can't make up.........

:agree:

Wow-- I'm shocked you agree with me on this.

People seem to be trying to prove some point--- which wasn't what this poll was about, but unfortunately some were dishonest and did try to manipulate the data to show more in the 'not fixed' column.

Go figure.....

I wasn't aware I had 'a side'... unless you're talking about my side of the border. Sorry to hear your country sucks so much--- simple answer---move...;)

While that may be the % within those that have had an issue, overall it is less than 14% of the MY 2008 respondents. So really 86% have no issue any longer.
That could be perceived as manipulation of the statistics. In my evaluation, each model year is figured and from the complete "pool" of respondents, not within subcategories of each MY. If there isn't a baseline as to how the statistics are read, just like politicians, you can make a case for anything.
JMHO

I'm tired of all of the DPS this and DPS that. BRP can't ignore this problem and from the amount of posts involved, they are trying to fix it. They are reading these forums.

We know BRP is working on this...no question about it...I think some just want it done already, but that might be unrealistic at this time. We don't know what is causing the problem, and BRP obviously doesn't know yet either. Perhaps these threads will give BRP some other ideas to look at...by doing so might help them fix the problem.

I think we're better served throwing ideas out vs. picking on one another (not saying you are) or ripping on BRP.

We all have Spyders and we love them! We only want them to work as they're supposed to...BRP knows this...

And myself as well, :agree:

While you might find it amusing, out of 129 2008 MY poll respondents to date, 58 have had DPS problems. That's 45%. I don't see what's funny about that.

Out of the 58 MY 2008 owners that experienced DPS trouble in your poll, 18 remain unresolved. That's 31%.:yikes:

So your poll tells me, that if someone owns a 2008 Spyder, they have a 50/50 chance of having DPS trouble, and when they do have it, they have a 1 in 3 shot of not having it fixed.

I don't think it's anything to laugh at.......:dontknow:

I'm not laughing about the situation or stats... just your interpretation of them :p.

DPS

This may be a dumb question but how would you know that your spyder has dps problems...compared to what? I have not ridden others so there is nothing that I can really compare it to. It seems a little more difficult to steer at low speeds but it does not seem obnoxious to me however, if it could be made easier, I certainly would like it to be ;)
