Spyder dealers in DE

DESpyder

New member
Hello all! I am currently looking to buy a 2011 RS-S SE5. I have been talking to J and J Powersports in Wilmington, DE. Has anyone dealt with them before? I am also considering buying from Talbot Powersports in Easton, MD. They are both about an hour from my house. While reading the forums here, I have noticed that there is a significant difference in the quality of service from the dealers. Since I will probably be using the same shop for service and repairs, I would like to get some feedback on these shops. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, took my spyder to J & J in delaware for my 600 mile service. Everything went fine as i was allowed to wait for the bike to be finished.

Price was a little hefty IMO, other than that , no complaints.

I did not buy there, so can't speak to that.

Good luck!

Take a little ride further south to ATLANTIC CITY CYCLE CENTER Hammonton, NJ (609) 561-8181 Bought my 2010 RS there!! Ask for Eddie and tell him Eddie Ortiz told you about the place!!!! I got a GREAT deal!!!! You might also!!!!!! I also got my first 600 mile service there for $240 ish ??? Waited and rode home!!!!! AWSOME!!! Check it out!!! PM for any ????

They are on the WHP right? Pretty sure i passed them on the way home from AC tonight/ They are a fairly new spyder dealer i think? good to know you are happy there ! thanks

I have dealt with both places. J&J is closer to my home but Easton is a nice ride. Both places are good. However my best fried of over 50 years had me price the Spyder he wanted at both places. Since he is from Fla. service was not important to him. He bought from J&J Last week my sister in law who has a early Spyder wanted a new RT she shopped both places plus the dealer in Philly. Again the bottom line was better at J&J. I took her there Saturday and she did buy from them. She did not trade her old one in. Good luck which eve way you go.

Delaware (area) Dealers

DESpyder,
I live about equal distance from J&J, Talbot Powersports and Short's Marine in Long Neck, DE. I've visited each on numerous occasions in anticipation of the day when I take the plunge and purchase my :spyder2:.

I've been treated well (by the salesmen) at each and each one has seemed motivated to try to meet my price. However, the most motivated has been East Coast Cycle Center in Bensalem, PA. They're also a Honda dealer (like Talbot Powersports), and are willing to consider one of my 2-wheelers in trade. Since I am not yet an owner, I cannot speak to the quality or responsiveness of the service departments at either of the dealers, and there's not a lot of feedback on here about them. There are some Marylanders who travel from the western shore and have good things to say about the Easton store. When my time comes, which is hopefully soon, I'll probably make my best deal and then choose my service by process of elimination, starting with the most convenient location.

By the way, I've only seen a handful of :spyder2:'s on the road in Delaware, and I travel nearly the length of the state daily. It's also good to see someone from the First State posting here! :welcome:

Thank you for the input. I am waiting on a price quote from J & J Powersports now. I got a quote of $19800 out the door from Talbot, but they don't have the RS-S that I want. I also contacted some other dealers farther away just to see what kind of price they were asking.

I been getting my 09 Phantom (RS) serviced at Short's Marine in Millsboro and I am very pleased with their service. Their tech Rich is a good guy, check them out if you can.

I've been to the dealer In hammonton which is only about 25 minutes from where I live but would never go back again. J&J are awesome as is their mechanic CJ. They will bend over backwards to make you happy. i never had a better buying experience or service experience from any dealer, automotive or bike than I have at J&J.

Again, thank you for the input. I just got a price from Shorts Marine in Millsboro, DE. They have the Spyder that I am looking for in stock. The price is a little more than what I have been quoted by other places but I won't have to wait. Now I just need to find time to get down there.
