• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. SPYDER CRASH!!

Doc, Sorry to read about the crash and happy to see that you were able to walk away. I do hope your back in the wind soon.

Brian

Crash

Wow:shocked:. Hope you bought a lottery ticket that day. Sure sounds like it was you lucky day to survive that. :( about your :spyder:. I:pray: your doing ok. Bad Penny

Very thankful you're okay and will heal. Sorry to hear about your Spyder, hope insurance comes through and you get back on the road soon!

Gear??

In case any of you are wondering about what gear I had on - gore tex all leather high top boots, BDU Heavy duty pants, Leather vest, Jacket over Vest, Riding gloves, and DOT Helmet securely fastened.. Sometimes I see Spyder Ryders without gear, I suspect because they feel safe from the inherent stability of the spyder BUT THINGS CAN HAPPEN BEYOND YOUR CONTROL.. without my gear this story would have ended differently.... thanks for all your concerns and well wishes...

That's a real wakeup as to what can happen without warning! The outcome says a lot about good gear & the safety of the Spyder. Glad to hear you escaped serious injury.

Glad you're OK Hal and things didn't turn out any worse. The Spyder if totaled can be replaced but you are another story. Your copilot was obviously your Guardian Angel. Hope you are back on the road soon!

Last night I was heading east on SR 50 returning toward Orlando but in the boonies. The closest cross streets to me were approx 3.5 miles ahead and behind so I was not expecting any cross traffic. A trailer truck driver who iived out in the country decided to back his tractor and 53ft trailer into an unmarked dirt lanes that lead to his house. When I arrived he was across SR 50 blocking both lanes and both shoulders. Since he was perpendicular to me his headlights and taillights were not visible toward me . My first realization he was blocking my path was when my headlights hit his side body reflectors.. At that point I was aimed at the precise center of his trailer side and quickly realized my head would be taken off if I proceeded straight. I made a quick decision to steer hard right while braking in an attempt to hit the real trailer wheels to get some cushion on the impact.. I did hit the rear wheels and managed to come to a stop and only then roll off the bike and stand up.. I had one cut on my finger, two I didn't know about on my left leg and a sore right shoulder - otherwise I seem fully intact.. I THINK SPYDER IS DEAD, BUT SHE WAS ONE TOUGH LADY AND TOOK ALL THE PUNISHMENT THAT MIGHT HAVE GONE TO ME. Fellow Spyder Ryder Tom Griffin was riding behind me and helped me through the accident report and recovery process. thank you again Tom... Clearly that eliminates my charity rydes planned for the next three weekends

Wow.. It is impossible to anticipate every situation.. Glad to hear your injuries are minimal compared to what they could have been. Thank god you were able to think and react so quickly. You are so right about the gear as well. Most likely the outcome would not have been as good if you had been on a 2 wheeler. Another good reason to ryde a Spyder. ..... I don't know how closely your fellow Spyder ryder Tom was following you, but that must have been difficult for him to wittness as well. ... Hope you have a speedy recovery and are back on the road soon on a new Spyder

+1 Doc. PTL you are ok. VERY food points on the gear.

WOW !! This is no way to spend your birthday week without a ryde; We are happy that God was watching out for you and now you can get a new improved spyder.

Wow Doc, that was a very scary situation indeed. I am truly glad your Spyder took the brunt of the impact for you, and that you appear to only have minor injuries. Please keep us updated on what happens next, both with your recovery process and with the insurance company.

Trailer hieght

The next morning after reading your post I was on the freeway, and when ryding past a truck I realized just how little space under the trailer there is. Once again, I am glad all is okay.

WOW!!! I'm almost speechless - I said almost, Hal! I can only repeat what everyone else has said to you. Thank God you are okay. HUGS

... and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I avoid riding at night unless I can't avoid it. Glad to hear you're okay!

BikerDoc, How are you doing? still sore from your little mishap, Debbie and I are glad you came out of it with just bumps and bruses. I hope getting your :spyder2: repaired will not be to much of a problem, we are looking forward to riding with you again.
