I was wondering if anyone has come up with a different way to cover there:spyder2: from the HOT SUN, I take it to work and it sets in the sun all day, sooner or later the sun will damage the paint and vinyl. I know BRP has a outside cover. Is there anything else. Has anyone made a cover and would like to share the knowledge. ray: Thanks, John (2766)

XL nylon motorcycle cover available at Walmart, K-Mart or most any big box store will cover the Spyder. Usually around $25. While not fully waterproof, it keeps sun, dust and water off the bike. Packs into a small football size and cheap enough that you can get a new one each year.

I use the NelsonRigg full cover for the Spyder. It's waterproof, has two internal liners, one for windshield and one for the hot pipes so you can put it right on and don't have to worry about hot parts melting it. It also fits larger windshields like the CHAD. Squishes down to about football size and comes with a little storage bag. Cost about 80 bucks.

I gotten it down to about 30 seconds to put it on when I get to work.

Does this work with your MadStad? They state "This cover will not work with the Can-Am “Touring” Windscreen".

So I'm guessing this may be a problem with the CHAD setup. Looks nice !

It works but you may have to let the mirrors stick out. Also, we have a couple of mini bungess and attach the loop to the foot peg. No biggie as it is waterproof and covers the whole top part of the bike. If I think about it, I will put it on my bike and get a couple of photos for you soon.

Their site states that it is not for the RT. This is sad because it looks great and is exactly what I am looking for. The one that comes with the RTS is large and very bulky, taking up an entire saddlebag. I hate to think of having to get a trailer just to carry the cover. ray:ray:

The Outdoor Cover that ships with the RTS is, indeed, large and bulky. Their Travel Cover takes up much less room in the trunk, is fairly easy to get on and off, and may ventilate better in hot weather, being shorter. I carry mine all the time, in my rear trunk. The only drawback is that it has no windshield protection. I made a bag out of sweatshirt cloth to protect my windshield when the cover is installed. It works fine with the CHAD. Just do 2 things:

1. Don't cover the mirrors

2. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left or right.

By doing the above, I don't need any bungee cords.

Could someone explain how the half-cover attaches, I see cords going down to the foot pegs on the sides, but at the front, does it go under the trunk lid? And the rear looks like elastic holds it in place? Thanks.

It goes over the windshield and behind the seat (in my case the brp backrest). It has elastic which holds it in place, like you said. It also has loops that go around the foot pegs. Some people add bungee cords; I don't need them.

It does not go under the trunk lid.

Elastic holds it in place around the cougar head, and the tail section of the Spyder. The straps are there to hook onto your foot pegs as well. I posted a review with lots of pictures on this product in this thread:

My Spyder sits in the sun all day at work also. I never gave it a thought about covering it to protect it from the sun. After all I or my wife do not cover the truck or car when driving them to work. I never cover the Harley when it sits at work. But now that I have the BRP seat skin and my nice red stitching is turning a pinkish color :yikes: I'm beginning to have second thoughts. And that has happened in just three months. Cheap :cus:.

They used my :spyder2: as the guide for the new cover. Should be out soon.

Nope. BRP Outside cover is the only way to go. Takes 2 minutes to put on and protects from rain, sun, sap, etc. GO BRP. You'll be glad you did. It's a well-made piece that fits the Spyder like a glove. :thumbup:

I like the 1/2 cover b/c it takes up very little room in the trunk. I got to believe the outside cover takes up quite a bit more space and when traveling space is at a premium. But, I guess if you're only going to work, then the outside cover may be the way to go.
