• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder 2010 RS SM5 - TailLight Wire Chafing on Rear Tire - Fix

Hi everyone. I got a few more minutes to checkout some more details of my 2010 RS. A while back, The Nicko messaged me and suggested I check out the rear taillight wire. It leads down the right side of the Spyder along the rear fender mounting bracket (along side the brake line) and then goes on its' own, up under the rear fender to make its' connection with the backside of the light.

This is what I found after my first ride, 32km:
ISSUE : The taillight electrical wire was hanging down far enough for the rear wheel to start cutting into it. The wire is secured in most areas with zip ties or clips up to this point, but at the top of the fender it was not seated in the clip and hangs down to tire.

THE FIX : Very easy to fix. The wire needs to be properly seated into the black clip in the center of the fender - look closely and you'll see it. Get something blunt and push the wire into it. I also installed the zip tie as a backup.

Close - up - You can see the slice into the wire from the rear tire:

Secured with a zip tie as a backup, in addition to placing it into the clip.

Not a serious issue, but worth a look. ;) I would be interested in knowing if anyone else have seen this on their GS or RS??!!

Hope that helps.
Thank you. Cheers, everyone, and Ryde Safe!

Thanx Grounds! Just went down and checked mine. It's OK, but awful close to the spinning rubber. Worth remembering to check, especially if we change to non-stock rear tires.

Haha... nope, no nail. That is a little nub of new rubber, which has since worn down quite a bit ;). Looks big because of the close magnification on my camera lens. Not to worry. Thanks.

Cheers.
