• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Special Children

When you have a "normal" child, who gets good grades, you are happy. When he or she does as they are told, you are happy. But it is a "normal" joy, because, of course, it is his/her duty. But when you have a child with some limitations, with each learning and small success, you pulsate and vibrate as if you had won a championship... I would like to ask you a great favor on an important subject:
It is the Special Education week, for children with Down syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD (attention deficit, with and without hyperactivity). For all children with special needs who struggle every day to succeed, and those who try to help them.
It would be great to teach our children to be kind and to accept all their classmates. Children with special needs are not strangers. They want what every kid wants: to be accepted! And they suffer greatly when they are rejected or mocked.

. Believe it or not, our special needs children and their parents need lots of help!
Thank you ♡

Well said....

Have dealt with my share though not my own. My kids were brought up to understand and had friends with special needs during their growing up years. They both have worked with these special kids and have accepted them as do all in our family...The parents do deserve a special kind of respect and love for their's is not an easy job....

Hear, Hear, Just one time volunteering for the annual Special Olympics events (Summer Games and Mid-winter events in most states) in your area can really open many folks eyes up to the range of support (just a cheery smile, kind word) Special Children deserve/need, and often one time volunteers become year round life long supporters.
Try it, you might like it... (kinda like spyders, eh?)

Thank you Joe for this post. We have a special needs child and struggled for years with the school system for the extra help she so desperately needed, as well as endless therapy, trying different medications or combinations of medications to try and stabilize her. She was institutionalized twice for suicidal ideation. She was eventually outplaced to a therapeutic boarding school, which I am convinced saved her life. She spent 2 1/2 years there which was hard both for her and for us as well. Long story short, she is now 26 and living independently, and has a full time job that she really likes, which we were fearful that she would never be able to do. She is engaged, and will be married this year by a dear fried of ours who is a Federal Judge. The Lord surely did smile on us.

My nephew, who lives with us, has behavioral issues. The current diagnosis is O.D.D. (Oppositional Defiant Disorder). The school used to call to let us know th steps they were taking. Now they call to see if his dad has any ideas for them to try. There are local and county agencies that help and we appreciate the support we get. But if any of you tend to pray, please include him in your prayer time.
