• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Speaking of throttle body !!!

Hey All !!

I haven't had the orange screen or gone into limp mode but I have a bogging down issue.
Doesn't happen all the time but does often. Happens in up-gear shifting. 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, etc..
Happens when I'm at highway speeds going to pass someone, I downshift to 4th, start to pass, shift to 5th and it bogs down.
It bogs down like the whole motor wants to shut down, then it catches and I take off. Kinda scary when going at 70+.
Fortunately dealer was able to recreate it. It threw a throttle body code. They replaced the throttle body but the bogging issue was still there but not as often.
They talked to BRP, was told to check some certain sensors, clutch plates and some other things. this meant major tear down of bike.
Everything checked out to factory spec.
My dealer wanted to replace the throttle body again, thinking the first one might be defective (since there are RT throttle body issues) and BRP would not approve it (kinda pisses me off) unless
it threw another throttle body code (they were not able to recreate it this time). Fortunately, a BRP rep came through the store. they cornered him with my Spyder (bogging) issues and he approved
another throttle body. I HOPE THIS FIXES IT !!!!
Other than the bogging issues, my Spyder has been outstanding !!!

Any input my dealer may have not thought of ????

Why do you downshift to 4th to pass and then upshift to 5th ? What are your RPMs when this is going on . I'm not saying this is your issue just curious. I know when I'm in 5th there is plenty of ponies left for passing.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this solves it for you!

hmmm

never had this issue but i have had mine fall flat on its face on a hard start from a stop such as pulling out in to traffic. i think its the nanny but im not sure it only does it while turning but kicks right back to normal usually and ive had mine just shut off at stoplight randomly but fires right back up.

LOL Sorry but whats a "nanny" ???

sorry

Nanny is what i call the stability control. Sometimes i think accelerating to hard out of a sharp turn sets the computer off and it takes the throttle and derates it till you straighten out of yoir turn

Nanny shouldn't be jumping in on a 4-5 upshift... How quickly are you romping through the gears? Maybe you're triggering something where the computer is getting a bit unsure of what's going on, and delays the upshift... it feels like a bog while your bike is deciding what gear it wants you to be using. Mine will do that once in a while on 1-2 or 2-3 upshifts if I'm pushing it a bit and shifting quickly.

I usually shift 6+ grand. Makes sense, if shifting too quick,"computer is getting a bit unsure of what's going on, and delays the upshift... it feels like a bog while your bike is deciding what gear it wants you to be using."
That kinda describes what my bogging issue feels like. I get the shifting through gears too quick. I'm gonna have to watch my shifting (LOL quit taking off like a bat outta hell). But I believe the bogging issue is still happening when I'm driving regular. Gonna keep an eye on my riding & shifting when I get my bike back from the shop.
Thanks for shifting input !!!!

Not a mechanical person so I will keep watching to see what you find out and how the issue is solved.

Still pretty new to the Spyder. I've been shifting in the 3-4.5K range. Should I be taking it higher? A lot of my riding is to/from work with 30 mph speed limits and I'm usually in 3rd for that speed. Also, the guy at the dealer said I didn't need to reduce throttle to shift, so I haven't been.
