• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spark plugs

What about the BajaRon heavy duty wires? How many miles are they generally good for?

As far as I know, no one has worn a set out. I can guess but until they start going bad it's hard to tell.

I did have 1 customer that only got 300 miles out of his wires. He didn't zip tie them to the frame as they come out of the coils and they fell down and laid on the front cylinder exhaust pipe. Sorry, no warranty on that one!

My BRP wires started to fail at 3,000 miles. I bought my MSD wires and NGK Iridium plugs from BajaRon and at 12,000 miles they test like new. I shoud get another 15,000+ out of them. The prices are good.
The price for a set of BRP wires is $93.48. BajaRon is $65.00 to your door. BRP Iridium plugs are $39.98. BajaRon Iridium $17.00 to your door.

Savings:
Wires BRP 93.48 MSD from BajaRon 65.00 Savings $28.48
Irdium Plugs BRP 39.98 from BajaRon $17.00 Savings $22.98
Total $51.46

Baja Rons plugs and wires

So I just had the 10k service form Can Am - I have 12,500 miles on the spyder - should I be nervous about my spark wires? planning to go to Spyder fest in April ( I live in Phoenix)

The OEM wires don't like heat. But it's hard to say. Some get 20k out of their original wires, others get much less. It depends on several factors. Now that BRP is putting iridium spark plugs in the Spyder you don't have to change them. Changing spark plugs is a killer on the OEM wires.

Keep an ear out for changes like exhaust popping, backfiring, missing, hesitation or even spark noise (spark jumping to cylinder or frame).

My experince is that the stock plug wires' live depends a lot on how much they are taken on and off, and the care taken in doing so. A very hot climate doesn't help things, either. I have ver 22,000 miles on the wires on my 2011, with no problems, but my 2010 had to have one replaced before it left the shop with one mile on it. If your Spyder is running well on both cylinders, and you won't be pulling the spark plugs before your journey, I wouldn't worry about it.

Did all 2012 models come with iridium plugs? BRP's new maintenance schedule calls for plug replacement at 14,000 miles.

Any idea why BRP's new maintenance schedule calls for stock iridium plugs to be replaced at 14,000 miles (besides $$$)?
