Spark Plug Help

Roy's Bassets

New member
I changed my plugs at 3000 to the NGK DCPR9EIX. The old front plug was brown like its should be, the rear plug is black. Checked new plugs a few days later, and they are the same front is brown, rear is black. Also :spyder2: runs like crap at constant throttle. Any help.:dontknow:

Rear plug is misfiring (or totally dead if it is wet). Could be bad spark plug wire, bad coil, or bad ECM. It need further diagnosis and repair. Fouled spark plugs are usually a symptom, and not a cause...unless they have a lot of miles on them.

:agree: with Nancy's Toy. Sounds like a visit to the shop is in order. Too much technology to diagnose this one at home.

Let us know what you find out.

Went to a new dealer in Cartersville, GA to day. Drove 2.5hrs because the dealer in Cullman, Al is useless. The dealer in Cartersville said it was because I had the hinkle exhaust. Said I needed to install the juice box or but the stock exhaust back on. Guest the stock exhaust will go back on and the hinkle will go on ebay. :gaah:

Bull! The Hindle (if anything) will Lean your fuel mix, not make it richer. And it will do that for Both Cylinders! What a Crock!

When you swap exhaust and it still does the same thing, then what?

Good thing you didn't have Glo-Riders or aftermarket bar grips! Who knows what havoc that might cause!

:agree: Pure hogwash! A free flowing exhaust will make an engine run leaner, not rich enough to foul plugs. In addition, if you have no other intake or exhaust modifications, the Hindle is a tested factory accessory. They don't sell things that require you to buy another manufacturer's product to make them work. Maybe we can take up a collection to send that clown to mechanic's school.

But I do have the Glo-Riders and bar grips! I will but the stock exhaust back on and try it. If its works I'll see you in the smokies with the stock on or the hinkle if it makes no difference. You guys a hard.:chill::chill::chill:

It won't work. They just got you out the door and that was their mission.

Taking your Glo-Rider's off will do the same thing as removing the Hindle.

I took my Spyder in because it had no power steering right out of the crate. They told me it was the aftermarket Cruise Control I'd installed.

So let's see. I get the Spyder brand new out of the crate (Lamont and I waited while they uncrated it and put it into service) I ride it for 6,000 miles with no PS, put the cruise control on at about the 6,000 mile point, and it's the CC that is the problem?

RIGHT! I'm buying that FOR SURE!

What is your plan 'B' for when the PIPE SWAP doesn't help?

The dealer in Cartersville told me to go back to the stock exhaust, he said if it did not help to bring it in and he would find the problem. I did not take the :spyder2: to him, I drove my truck up to just check things out. So thats plan B. He seemed to know what he was talking about, because he had the same problem on his spyder, like others on the site with the :spyder2: running like crap at a constant speed. But the stock back on today, will take a ride tomorrow, will post a reply tomorrow.:D

I totally agree Scotty. That's pretty sad man. Putting the stock can back on won't solve a thing. If anything the Hindle should have helped a bit. I bet they didn't even check the Hinterschlicker Rod while they were in there...... :roflblack: I'M SORRY, I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!! It's friday and I'm gettin goofy from gettin beat down at work!! :roflblack:

I think you meant the Helsinki Smash Rod didn't you?

Rode 109mis today with stock exhaust, no back fire ran great, both plugs are brown, so looks like the dealer was right, if run a hinkle you have to have the juice box.:2thumbs::clap:

Makes absolutely no sense. :dontknow: There are probably hundreds of Hindle users with no Juice Box and no problems.

You can buy the Spyder new off the showroom floor with a Hindle installed.

I'd like to know why this worked. Definitely missing some critical piece of information here.

I'm with you. But... time will tell. New plugs are always good right off the bat. Let's see a couple of weeks from now.

BRP was putting the Hindle on before there even was a Juice Box. It isn't that I mind being wrong......Well, ok, I do mind. But the thing is I'd like to know why. :dontknow:
