sound at highway speed

My 2010 rts when on highway brought bike up to high speed 80mph has a burrrrrr sound comes from under machine I am a newbee to the bike and have a new tire installed by another brand dealer there is no noise issue at any other speeds or at 65 to 70 on highway it runs great the whole way is it possible the drive belt is to tight ? the bike only has 6800 miles

Your. Information flow. Is really bad. What type of noise? Squeak? Vibrating? Whine? Grating? Grinding? Humming? Wind? Exhaust leak? Valves? Rod knocking? Piston slapping?! Front, middle, rear of bike? In a turn? While braking? While under heavy throttle?

:welcome: A little more information would be helpful if possible. Sounds like harmonics from the belt drive--but.......

Drive belt

It could be the drive belt and the rear drive sprocket are not in alignment. Look at the sprocket and drive belt and see if it is trying to climb the inside lip or showing severe wear on one edge more then the other.

While your looking check the drive sprocket for debris stuck in the teeth

maybe it's your lost cat, and she doesn't like to go fast..... :roflblack:

seriously; jack your ride up, crawl under and look for a loose belly panel... it could start flapping at the speeds you're talking about.... you may also want to check your belt alignment to see if you are getting wear on the edges... this would mean the belt is moving from side-to-side...

Little checking..!!

does it go away above 80mph..?? There are harmonic vibrations/humm's usually in a specific speed. If a non dealer with little or no knowledge of the roadster belt and belt tension could have it adjusted wrong. Vibrations can be misjudged as noise at times see if you can feel anything in the hands, feet or butt..this will help identify it. I would start by checking belt tension and tracking...:thumbup:

i do believe it to be to tight of a belt the sound is is at a steady 80 mph harmonics and parts to check for loosness tyhank you all for the info
