• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

something you might not run into often

Yikes...!!

Don't think the snake fared well...:yikes: rivet on a buckle and punch a few holes :roflblack:

Holy crap. . Luckily the person following was in a cage and took the thing out. I am not a snake lover.

Running over an aggro snake on a 'bike Down Under is an invitation to a quick trip to the morgue!! That's why the rider lifted his legs up & clear!! And running over an aggro snake in a cage is just a invite to a slower trip to the morgue!!

Unless you are 100% sure that you are gonna kill the snake with the first wheel to hit it, chances are it'll simply get flicked up & wrap around something - on a bike, that's most likely gonna be you, and the results often aren't pretty!! In a cage, it's more likely to be an axle or something else under the car & the snake'll just hang around under there getting madder & madder until you stop, which is when it charges out, even more aggro than when all this started, and the results often aren't pretty.... probably even less pretty than they woulda been on the bike, cos at least then people would've had an idea of what it was that killed you!! :dontknow:

I know of one bloke who got bit 5 times in the space of time it took him to step outta the car, but he thought it was just static electricity zapping him, so walked off for a bit... He probably would've survived if he'd been taken straight to hospital, but the little bit of time it took him to walk a few paces & then collapse was just too much when it was added to the fact that they were then over an hour's drive from the nearest chance of getting any antivenine & even that was only a very small town with a tiny medical centre that only had a small amount of antivenine on hand, but by then he needed a whole whack of the stuff, and that was more than an hours emergency flight away from that small town that was already over an hour away IF his missus had started driving back immediately (but she didn't think of that!!) And by the time the ambulance she did call eventually did arrive, he was already in a really bad way & his missus was blaming everyone else except the very person who tried to run over the snake in the first place!! :gaah:

Soo, here's a bit of advice for free - just don't try to run over snakes in Oz - not in a car, not in a truck, & definitely not on a bike!! It's a hiding to nothing, & when the snakes down here get riled up, not only will they launch themselves at a bike, but they'll also take on vehicles far bigger than themselves & often get caught up, just waiting for a chance to get off & take out anything & everything that moves! :lecturef_smilie:
