• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Something I HATE about the Spyder!

Well

Bob,

that's because all of these people in the frozen tundra are going crazy because it's too frickin cold to ride their :spyder2: We lucky Californians get to ride in the most beautiful State in the union, All year long with the most varied terrain anywhere in the country. They are freezin' their butts off and we are ryding. Cut em some slack, clean your bike (like I do after every ryde) and enjoy your life. To each their own. And be careful most of these folks packing pretty heavy!:roflblack: You could get shot:yikes:

SHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

80 Deg here today:2thumbs:

Don't tell everyone.........they will all want to move here. Where else can you ryde from the beautiful Coastal area to the high Sierra in an hour and a half. From the Dessert to the beach in an hour and a half. From quaint little rural fishing villages to the most beautiful city in the country San Francisco, and do it all in comfort at temperatures that are perfect for ryding.

Yep.... in my younger days I would go surfing on Saturday and snow skiing on Sunday :)

LOL!! OK. But I am still going for a ride this afternoon in a T shirt and shorts!!

Yup! The sun is helping...
We were threatened with eleven below for this morning...
But it only dropped, to minus six! :2thumbs:

Nooks and crannies

Bob

You will hate the 14 then, the new radiators cutouts are trash collectors, they love to collect leaves and small pieces of paper

Cruzr Joe
amen to that. Those radiators are collectors for sure. IS there a right or wrong way to wash the spyder. Can i spray down the dash area or ?

I'd always tend to be more careful around anything electronic:
Switches
Fuse panels
Batteries
electronic displays

But if you Don't use a pressure washer; you're probably okay..

Me: I just use a damp cloth that's been hit with some cleaner...

I value my Spyder thus I won't use any product to clean it which will have the potential to
cause long term degradation of paint, plastics, screens or rubber. The cleaner that I use is totally
biodegradable, will remove road grime, won't streak and is economical to use ( A 10:1 solution
works fine.) One liter bottle last a couple of years! It's designed for trailers (caravans) which are
made from similar materials to Spyder bodywork. I used this for years on my bikes too.

In the winter I generally strip clean the bike. Take off all of the Tupperware use car ramps and an
ATV lift to make it more accessible.

Between rydes I use Pledge (or similar) anti-static spray cleaner for panels and screen, Armor-All for
the Black plastic. Works for me!!

I use Planet Solution, as organic as it comes, from shampoo to cleaning vegetables, oh and great on the Spyders. Has been out of production under that name, but I have a lifetime supply.

Spyder cleaning

Yes there is something I really hate...

CLEANING THIS THING is a PAIN in the ASS........

So many little nooks and cranny's. So many angles and spots to clean and wax....
Area's where road dirt collects you cant get at....
The cross struts (with plastic covers) and front end plastic all need cleaning and care....
The "static" cling the Tupperware causes when waxing! Make sure you have a lint free buffing cloth!

I have to tell you after doing a full wash and wax at least 3 times now since I have owned my Spyder,
it takes hours and when done.... I AM BEAT! It's a SH*T load of work.

Now if your really anal about cleaning, have a look under the fenders or better yet, under the complete ass end of an RT.
I had mine with all the covers off last weekend except the trunk and rear body panels (had them off before on another farkle session). Yet when I looked up in there even with only 4700 miles on it... FILTHY! But I am NOT that anal to go after cleaning all that stuff. Maybe once a year if I desire to be that clean...

Anyway, one thing I hate yet love to do, is make my Spyder look "show room"...

I would rather wax a van or a 26' boat than detail a Spyder! I have done both and trust me... detailing a Spyder is a lot harder :)

Bob
You are so right. I washed a 33 foot trailer from roof to frame, washed the truck and then washed the Spyder and it took me a solid two hours to wash and wipe it down so it's baby smooth. But Damn, it sure looks good right now.

I clean mine with the wet rag/dry rag combination and a bucket of clean water. It's not tooth brush clean, but clean enough for me. I would rather ride it. If anyone comments about the shape it's in, THEY can pimp it up.

Dust and dirt seem to wash off easily
But I wish I lived somewhere that there are no bugs:roflblack:
Anyone no of a place that's bugless
