• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Some New Concerns

Well, all a Spyder tech has to do is log in on BUDS and enter the serial number of your Spyder. It will list all tune-ups, recall and warranty work performed. The needle or roller bearing recall had to do with the clutch of the automatic transmission the SE-5 has. The original bearings of a component were failing and they went with a harder steel as a fix i believe, maybe more to it than that. The transmission was getting stuck, not to be confused with killing the engine while in gear and having to step on the brake on a restart to shift to neutral.

AMTJIM, thank you so much for all of your valuable advice. I said in my reply to Jeff that I have some of the parts I ordered, am getting the recommended filter, and will get the GW gasket if I can get the part number for it and perhaps the supplying company. I will soon have everything for my friend to begin. I will be watching him very closely in hopes of learning how to do some work on it. Knowing how to get to things will be a good start. How will I know about the "needle or roller bearings recall?" I wonder why nothing was done about this when it was having warranty work done in April. Can you tell me what sypmtoms to look/listen for? Where are these parts and what function do they perform?

Well, SO MANY very kind people have come to my rescue and I am most certainly grateful for the advise and suggestions. I hope someday I can help someone. Right now, the best I could do is call Triple A. Sandy
The part no. for the GW gasket is 18392-MAM-000. You can pick it up at a Honda dealer or just google the no. and find on line sources. I believe Amazon has a source for it as well. I bought mine at a local Honda dealer.

AMTJIM, Thank you for the information. I called Pensacola Motor Sports. The technician checked the records of my Spyder and said there was no information about a roller bearing recall for my machine. I sort of wondered about what he said and told him that I purchased it from someone in AL and maybe he had the work done there. The answer was the same. He explained that ANY recall or needed warranty work came from BRP and I would be notified. Looks like it is a wait and see proposition. Thanks, Sandy

Wonderful, Trickie Dick! I called a Honda dealership in Fort Walton Beach and they have the part in stock and are holding it for me. As soon as the recommended filter arrives, HRS (Hot RED Spyder) will be ready for her upgrades and helping her run better is most certainly an upgrade. I purchased the Triple A insurance on account of being concerned about breaking down somewhere. It can be a not so good feeling to be standing on the side of the road not knowing what to do next. TTL for cell phones! Thank you, again, Trickie Dick for helping. Sandy

(deep sigh).......well, won't be picking the gasket up today as they only have one. The second one needed is ordered and will not be available for me until next Wednesday. Thank you, BOBOGERA, for bringing the lack of plural to my attention. One would not have helped much I guess. I am not sure what I would do if the great folks on here like you did not kinda "keep an eye open" for me. I realise that sounds pathetic, but it is what it is at the present time. I will continue to learn. Thanks again. Sandy

Sandy,
I got my Honda gaskets at Pensacola Motorsports. They are a Honda dealer too.

'08 Red was "rare", supposedly they had a problem with the red paint flaking, so they were on hold. Yours may have gotten the newer bearings before it left factory. If they say you have no pending repairs or recalls, I wouldn't worry about it. You are under warranty anyways. I know it was discussed on here, it may take some searching, but you will find it if you want to know more.
