Some of this isn't new...

Not sure how much air is really needed to cool this engine, but the radiator isn't exactly huge so every bit helps. At a certain point tho, more air cooling will just make the liquid cooling system work less hard... with the same net effect. So I'm not sure I agree with more air cooling needed around the engine...

However all that heat needs to go somewhere, and your air intake is sucking in that hot air. I do agree that a cool air intake would help a lot. So far most of the options lean towards something custom (unless you don't have the fog lights then you can use the one that goes in there)

The exhaust proximity to the oil cooler and oil tank are certainly hot helping but I'm not sure I'd call it a design flaw.

I never really noticed how close the front cylinder exhaust was to the belt.

and I'd never seen the brake fluid on the frame like that... that's nasty.

That video was made by Marcel almost 3 years ago, Not too long after that he moved to Germany, With [claimed by some] a lot of deposit money from some of his customers.

He brings up some interesting observations about the air intake and the brake reservoir overflow, but his comment about the cylinder head not having sufficient air to cool does not make sense. The cylinder head is water cooled and does not rely upon or need air cooling.

Marcel got mad at BRP because of one of their windshields looked a lot like one he made so he made these videos to slam BRP and the Spyder. He also made a kit that had a fairing, trunk and bags for the RS and he called it the RT. Not sure if he ever delivered any but I know he took some down payments for some. I won't go into detail but this guy is a piece of work.

observations

The cold air intake makes sense. The ripple in the frame..... what he refers to with bending with sand, is now done with a process I believe called hydroforming. The way the frame is bent must meet what ever parameters BRP set, so yeah they could bend it differently but there would most likely be an increased cost for it.

I just wanted to talk about some of the Spyder related things in the video regardless of his motives.

Would shielding the oil cooler and reservoir help anything?

Is there anything that can be done about the brake fluid overflow?

Is the belt in any danger being so close to the exhaust?

Has anyone ceramic coated the entire exhaust? Worth it?

This has not caused problems on anyone else's Spyder that I know of. Why go to all the trouble if there is no real problem?

This has already been addressed by BRP. Only a few Spyders exhibited the problem in the first place.

It has been done. The owners were pleased, but not necessarily ecstatic. Similar results for exhaust wrapping. Only you can decide if it is worth the time and effort.
