Solution to fly-away Hopnel Dash bags

I LOVE my Hopnel Dash Bags, but I've had one fly off. They replaced the Velcro for me, but the way air runs up over the dash from the vents still has the back of the bags lifting up, and I don't want to loose my wallet/glasses etc from fly-away bags, so I drilled a small hole in each of the outer windshield parts and ran a piece of bungee (1/4") between them and across the bags. Works just like I'd hoped it would.

Those of you up in snow country will have to wait til spring to try this.

i just got their rear trunk bag for the RT last night, so far i like it, top bag may be a little too tall if you have anything in the lower bag but i still like it even if i only kept the lower one. Considering both these dash bags and the frunk bag.

I have the saddlebags and both trunk bags. The lower area of the trunk used to be a wasteland of heavy objects that were hard to fetch. Now I keep all my tools in the lower bag, and I put stuff I need that's more accessible in the upper bags and it works well.

:thumbup: Glad im not only one having trouble with pics but more advice needed to all about drilling plexi! :hun: Not as ez as you may think. High risk of cracks. Please do NOT just try on your own. & use pilot holes (smaller size )rather than jumping to the size you want the hole when done. Few other tips out there learn them first, better than having damaged parts. :thumbup: If you cant test on separate piece would be best. IMH(redneck)O

Just a thought

If you put a matching piece of honeycomb plastic down first then the bags air would flow under and bags would stay put. Only raise it 1/2-3/4" ...:thumbup: but the bungee seems to work for you..:2thumbs:

I've had the same problem with mine coming loose. I haven't lost any but it has been close. I put some extra heavy duty Velcro on the front edges of all three bags and that has seemed to stop the trouble. I don't want to drill holes in my windshield. I hope your solution solved your problem too.

My bag actually flew off,but luckly there was no traffic, and I was able to retrieve it.I put extra Velcro on both sides and that seems to be the remedy.

Dive weights

Cut open a lead pellet dive weight. Put a bit of the pellets into a snack size ziplock Baggie. Put into dash bag, weight will hold it down.
