• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Solo Trip

6:30am not quite up and at 'em...but almost. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate much better today. Not sure how far I"ll get today, not pushing it like Seth but I want to make into Wisconsin for sure. This has been truly a great experience, so glad Butch let me steal the Spyder and do this, he's a pretty great guy! Well I'd better get up going!

Thank you Butch for letting Paula take the Spyder. It was great fun to have her as part of the group. I hope you had a good time Paula and get home safely.

Made it to Escanaba and found a great little mom & pop motel right on Hwy 2. Love these places, when I asked where a good place to eat (not fast food) they invited me eat with them! Shepards pie, yum!

I rode 337 miles today, so tomorrow when I'm by the lake I'll have lots of time to stop for photos. The roads were great, traffic very light and I almost stayed dry! Caught the edge of a squal that cooled me off very nicely, but didn't get me wet, just the road spray got me wet. Then the sun came out and dried me up. I got to experience having a bee get in my helmet! That was fun, then some other bug must've hit my leg and stung me thru my jeans!

I also got to watch the odometer roll over to 25,000 miles, so I pulled over to take a photo of it for Butch so he can send for his next pin!

Well I need to return my place to the motel office, then got sit on swing and read for awhile before venturing out for dessert and fuel. -- Paula

Great ride but where are the pics?

Nice to have met you, Paula, look forward to ryding with you again....glad your trip was enjoyable and safe!:2thumbs:

Deb & Brian you guys rock! Thanks for all you did to put this ride together....I knonw it's a lot of work. I pooped out and decided to stop in Rhinelander, WI for the night...that leaves about 180 some miles for tomorrow, I'll be home to have lunch with Butch!

One thing I need to purchase for future trips is the cord for the iPad to my camera so I can upload photos while on the trip...hopefully I'll have them posted tomorrow night.

MurphyBrown will appreciate this...I splurged on a chain motel with a pool and hot tub...had to go buy a swimsuit (don't tell Butch) then had the whole place to my self! What a treat, then drove around and found a nice family restaurant. And now I'm ready to veg out with my book and some coffee.

Glad you made it safely for the night.  Way to pamper yourself lady..LOL  I can't wait to see your photos as well as everyone else's.  I promise not to tell Butch about the swimsuit.

Just got everything unloaded from the trailer. We got home and then had to pick up the dogs at the kennel (50 mile round trip). We had a great time and I'm going to look at my videos and post them soon. We left Gene in Rockford, MI he was going to try to make it near Indy tonight. Paula next time you will have to stay a day longer to do the Tunnel of Trees it was spectacular.

Just about ready to set on the last leg of my trip. I couldn't keep my eyes open to read a whole lot, put my book down and looked at the clock...only 9pm! Fell right to sleep, but woke up at 5am! Arg! Oh well early start for me then, looks like good riding weather. I'll try to get my photos posted when I get home....onward, go west young (ha ha ha) lady, go west!

HOME!

Well, so much for an early start...after a 1/2 hour "chat" in the parking lot while trying to pack, I got on the road. Then promptly chose the wrong way to drive thru Rhinelander to get to Hwy 8. Sun should be at my back...it's on my right, not good, but I asked a couple that were out walking and they got me going in the right direction. There wasn't a straight shot from where I was to Hwy 8. Once I got out on the highway and away from Rhinelander, I had the road to myself until I got to Ladysmith, WI then everyone in town decided it was time to hit the road too, oh that was probably their rush hour :roflblack: After that I tucked in behind a semi and we had a great pace going all the way to the border. I got home in time to have lunch with Butch...he pulled in the driveway just as I was calling to tell him I was home!

Now I have to deal with my bags and get ready to meet Bumblebeeyelo and her husband to join us for bike night at Culvers in Forest Lake.

Your first trip was a success! Now I would think it will be very hard for you to go back to being Butch's passenger.

A big part of that success was having you, Joe, and all the other SpyderLovers to ride with when I got there. As for riding on the back...I really don't mind because I know Butch will let me take the spyder pretty much whenever I want.

Here is the link for my photos, I need to figure out where Butch save the bridge photo link and then I'll post it.

I have to fess up, when I was saying good-bye to you all, I started to tear up! It was so much fun being with all of you, and knowing I won't see you until next spring at SpyderFest (Damion, you are coming!!) was a bit sad. But it nice know we will all keep in touch on this wonderful site Lamont has created for us. There were so many fun moments during this trip...I start telling Butch about one thing then I jump to another thought and forget to tell him something else...then we are talking about non-spyder things, and I'll remember something and just blurt it out. It's going to take awhile for it all to sink in I think.

Time to start planning our next ride...oh that's right we have a day trip on August 27th...yipee!:ohyea:
