• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So what are these Spyders selling for?

I've been a lurking member of this excellent site for a few years now.

I bought my wife a loaded 2009 RS back in 2010 and although her job keeps her from riding many miles she had really enjoyed the times we can get out and ride.

Her Spyder has ran flawlessly and never given her any troubles.

I'm thinking of selling her RS and getting her a newer RT model.

I don't want to be insulted at a dealer on trade in and have NO problem selling it myself.

It seems prices are all over the place.

So here are the specifics on her bike...let me know what you folks think it's worth.

2009 Roadster with 4300 original miles.
Manual transmission
Factory Can Am extended warranty until 2014.

Factory stuff:
side bags
foglights
upgraded front wheels
cargo area organizer
backrest

Aftermarket stuff:
spring to pop open hood
fan can to keep heat off right leg
Madstad adjustable winshield
handlebar risers

Bike is in mint condition paint and body are perfect..the wife is a clean freak and owns a show car of her own so she cleans the bike after every ride.
Never ridden in the rain or bad weather.
Bike runs and rides like new.
Tires are excellent and the bike needs nothing

So what is a excellent, low mile, well accessorized 2009 Spyder that's still under warranty bringing these days?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

SM-5 (shifter) or SE-5 (Semi-auto)? Looks good!! Can't help you on pricing since there are many variables to consider like area/demand for one in the particular region/etc.
Good luck with your research and upgrade!

Sorry upgraded the info in my post.

It's a manual SM-5.

The nearest Can Am dealer is a few hours away which is good and bad.

The Spyder gets rock star attention due to it's rarity in our area and I have a feeling it would get a lot of attention if I advertise it locally.

Thanks.

Also check out eBay and Cycle Trader-- you'll be able to see what others are at least asking for their bikes.

If it were mine, I would remove the farkles that are easy to remove and sell them separately on this board or on ebay. The bags could easily fetch $500 since they retail for $800 but you are unlikely to get a buyer to agree that they add $500 to the value of the vehicle.

As is with all the farkles, it is probably worth $12k.

A year ago I paid $10K for an 08 with similar specs but much higher miles.

Of course it also depends on how much your time is worth to you too.

Good luck.

I agree but...with the low miles you may be able to fetch a bit more but I wouldn't turn a buyer for 12K away. Nice bike should sell easy during the spring rush to get a bike. If you want a RT try to save some money by getting a great deal on a 2012 leftover, if this is something you would consider.

Check..!!

NADA.com...you can specify some mods but will give you the different prices for wholesale, trade in or individual sale...good looking unit should not have a problem selling for fair value...!! good luck....:ohyea:

You put up a pretty tough question. I don't usually comment on prices other than say ball park. $10K to $12K is the ballpark we see for the year and miles mentioned.

Dealers will give you $1500-$2000 less for what they will sell it for on the trade in because they have to make something on the transaction also.

Selling it outright will get you back some of that money--but the knowledgeable buyer will also expect to pay somewhat less than they would buy it from a dealer. Then, you have to find a "real" buyer with "real" money.

Recommend KBB or NADA for more ideas. Also check out the site for sale thread and get more ideas.

You will find you have the right price when you get a lot of responses and inquiries. 300 lookers and no takers usually means the price is to high.

We had a similar situation about a week ago. Buyer had an exceptionally farkled 2008 and was asking 16,000 for it.

Good luck on your sale.

Thanks for the responses.

My estimates are in the same price range as the rest of you.

I need to do some more research on the RT/S models and see what problems I should look for.

She insists on a manual transmission which is good.

I don't need a brand new one but I don't want one with high miles or that's problematic either.

I see a number of 2010 and 2011 for sale.

The 2012 and 11 leftovers still have a $2,000 rebate and full warranty. I got the New base model 2012 RT in OCT with manual tranny for $17,000 and tax and I prefer ear buds to loud stereo,s! Check loical dealers and CycleTrader because many dealers advertise there!
The 2012 models have fixed many small problems ?

RE: RT's There are no "problem" years. The issues have been worked out on 2010, 2011, and 2012, and dealer fixes should be in place on them. Recommend taking any RT you plan on buying to a dealer and have them look it over, run it on BUD's to make sure all updates have been taken care of.

You should be good to go.
