• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

snow tire ordered WITH studs this year

I got this with studs this year and hopefully i can give a good review on if it is worth having them in a tire on the spyder, not sure if everyone was aware of this but there were no snow tires in the stock spyder size so I have gone from 225/50 r15 to 215/60 r15.

I ran a general weather firestone last year and it do ok, better than a stock tire but not as good as a winter tire, I used a winterforce for 2 years and now I am trying this general.

If anyone has actual experience with this tire on a spyder I would love to hear it.

And for those who do not know a spyder does great in a snow and ice if you compare it to a car with bad tires or a motorcycle and if you have 4 inches or less of just now you can screw around a little but be careful of ice and such.

I ran thru about 6 inches of snow on the way home a few weeks ago that came down in 4 hours and i can say I have drove thru at least twice as bad conditions and that was with a stock sized kumdo rear at 50%.

I'm pretty sure you're the only one that's going to have experience with that tire Seth. You ain't right son. ;)

Snow tires

Seth,

I think the studded tire route is a good one, due to the conditions you ride in. Do you have a spare wheel for the bike? I would think it would make life a lot easier.

Cheers!

THE STUDDED TIRES

Seth you ROCK man.........and my son has those same tires ( also studded ) on his turbo Saab and Loves them...........Good Luck .....Ride Safe .......Mike...:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::agree:

Here in Washington state studded tires are legal from nov 1 until april 1. these tires are the best alternative.
Do you use studded tire on your front tires? That will bring more steering control. Lets have fun in the snow.:yes::yes:

Studs on the front will not give more steering control, Just the opposite the steel studs will act like skates.
Even studs on the rear on pavement will increase stopping distances, There great on ice, But tricky on dry pavement. I've used then for years in the winter driving into Manhattan 6 days a week' Still have the gouges that they made on the floor of my garage. I found that the newer winter tires made with sticky tread compounds worked just as well if not better.

I still think Can Am ought to make a quick change front end. For those who really want to ride in snow.

Y'know.. unbolt the wheels and bolt on a set of skis. Braking would be rear wheel only..

I'll be waiting patiently for your review!

My left arm is still in a cast until December! :banghead: Then I can finally tryout winter riding for myself!! I'm going a little stir crazy because I have not been able too ride for 4 weeks now!:banghead::banghead:

I tired to get one and it was the only time I got screwed on something online, it was someone on the other spyder site... which is not as good and it cost me about 500 bucks, I was going to the salt flats the first time and in a hurry to get one. But it would help, with lamonts tire changing trick in the rear and no fender you can get the back one off in 10 minutes (with real humans helping me of course) then the MC store in bemidji just charges me 25 to change it and then it takes about 15 to put it on.

I don't stud the front, the reason I want it is because of taking off, its the only thing that is a issue really with the spyder I have had in winter riding.

here is one with the snow tire on it, this is only a 2nd gen go cam I think and it has trouble with the snow thinking its light out.

KMs????? I am no dirty french Canadian (this is a joke for anyone who takes life to serious) and it did say that, your speedo is off because of the slight tire size difference, it does read higher than normal which is also high, 118 on your speedo is really 109mph.

You can't test it if you don't push it, this video was not really pushing it.
