• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

smaller shield on the RT 2011

BRP asked me about my experiences with the smaller windshield on my RT ..
as I’m not so tall (less than 6Ft) it works perfect specially in the really hot days here in italy - did also the flaps under the mirrors away..
now I use the up/down switch more often to bring the noise (and air-pressure) away from the helmet
driving in the night or rain I prefer not to look through “plastic” (goldwing-like)
and my wife still doesn’t understand why all this “modern” bikes have the backseat higher than the driver position – so she loose a lot of the protection .. but its OK
less vibrations on the shield – higher end-speed – less fuel .. would do it once again
thanks Lamont for the idea..

Trim job

I cut my windshield down to the 2011 specs and trimmed the side shields by 1". Me and my RIO still have plenty of wind protection with the windshield up, and I think I am getting better fuel mileage at highway speeds. Maybe 1 more MPG, up to 28 now. I still have a hard time keeping my wrist out of it at stop lights though, so that doesn't help the old MPGs any. :D

Chris, did you get a 2011 OEM shield for BRP to fit your 2010 RT, or did you cut yours? Did you go for an aftermarket shield? :ani29:

first i cut only 2 inch on the top - than on the sides - nearest to the plastic-holders and a little under the holder ... maybe could be a little lower for me ..( cost 2 x 20 dollars)

to remove shield I assume just raise to top height and remove the two screws on the back? is the bottom somehow just slotted in to hold it?

Raise windshield, remove the back screws. Carefully pull out on the top of the front covers. They are either chrome or black. The top of cover pulls out a little to get it to clear a cutout in the windscreen and then they slide up. There will be 2 screws on each side under the covers. Remove them and off comes the screen.

I cut mine right on the machine.
Worked great and no worries about scratching it, how to hold it, or where to set it down.
Just used plenty of painters masking tape, marked it with a pencil, and cut it with a new blade in my sabre saw.
Used a hand held belt sander to smooth out the edged a little, and finished it off with a utility knife razor blade.

Windsheild

Thanks guys for the info. I have been thinking about cutting mine down and now am convinced that 2 inches should work great. Powered up all the way for rain or cold but down on normal days. Thanks
