We just installed the Spyderpops skid plate last week and it is fantastic. the difference between the factory plate and this one is like night and day! By the way...it shipped very fast as well. We are handy with wood but not very experienced auto mechanics and installed it ourselves with no problems at all. You will need to either drive it up on ramps or use a floor jack to get it up off the group a little. Hope this helps.

Installed mine a couple of weeks ago, Having had it shipped over to the UK from Spyderpops

Very pleased with it - Offers Frontal protection and looks like it should have been there from the Start

Had to travel in Heavy rain a couple of weeks ago and it kept the front underside dry and clean

Would add it to my top ten mods

It not only helps protect the front of the machine but it looks nice. When you look at the front of a machine that doesn't have it you think that something is missing. Another feature is another place to put lights !!!

Got my bump skid on and really love it. The small, thin stock skid plate was about half gone. Spyderpops will have the 2end generation bump skids out any day now. I have seen them and there better than the first and looks better too. He did an install video of me installing the 2end generation on my RT not long ago. he will have it out soon along with the new skids. I live in the back woods and have 1 mile before I get to pavement and the skids really save the undercarriage and the bottom of the frunk.

Planning on installing my BumpSkid today finally! Will also be routing in some LEDs from Reggy at TricLed!!

I have just come from the ATV world and when I saw a thread on "Skid Plates" I thought I had accidentally signed into the wrong forum?:D I am in love already.............mods and lights everywhere!

There are some seriously addicted people on this forum:clap:

So... There are no real skid plates made in metal to protect the underneath mainly the engine cases? Without going dirt riding I think some more protection is needed when roads turn bad with stones flying etc. I like this "iron" looking plastic thing but I am not sure it protects enough for nasty rocks and or road hazards ?! I'll be afraid of aqua planing too ( specially on an already prone vehicle like the RT!).
The skid plate should be made of alloy and protect the cases no less ... No more (IMHO).

The material that it's made from is more than stout enough to keep road debris at bay... Besides; metal skidplates can and often do bend under impact and cause problems... these take the shot and will never bend.

A couple of weekends ago I went to visit friends on N GA. His driveway is gravel. I started down and changed my mind. This is when I found out my RT would not back up, up hill....no traction. So, I had to continue down riding the tops of the raised parts of the driveway till I got to a wide spot. I turned around at the wide spot.
I'm glad I had the Bumpskid installed on my RT because it scraped several times coming and going on the driveway. Great investment in protecting one's Spyder!

So, what's the difference in the new Bumpskid than what I have?

I believe spyderpops is the only aftermarket 'bumpskid'. I see you have a bumpskid; isn't it spyderpops?

:agree:
The BumpSkid is DEFINITELY durable enough to throw almost anything at it. It is well built and made of tough stuff. (a technical term) ;)

I would like to see pics afterward.

Will do. However it may be next weekend befor I get it on now. I just finished putting my trailer together and now the BOSS says I gotta mow if I want to go riding tomorrow!

Tomorrow I am going to ride the Spyderfest Rock Ride with co captain Brenda SpyderMonkey4.

And I'll be pulling this on a test run!
