• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sinking Feeling

You know when you get that sinking feeling it usually means what ever just happened is going to hurt your pocket. Well that was the feeling on Sunday of this week. So forums are here to team up and share experiences and also to offer words of advice, so all I'm going to say is
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CORD ATTACHED TO YOUR SIDE COVERS TO STOP THEM FROM BLOWING OFF WHEN YOUR RIDING AT 70 MPH OTHERWISE IT'S GOING TO COST YOU A LOT OF MONEY !!!!
There I feel a lot better now,

 Sorry to hear that you got bit by this one... :yikes:
Have you checked with your insurance Company, to see if this will exceed your deductible yet?

The problem is usually that the cover has not been properly attached. Did you have service done recently? Could be the dealers fault for not re-installing the cover properly.

Improper attachment can be a root cause to the panels blowing off the :spyder2:.

The last three times my :spyder2: was serviced, the two panels were not properly attached. They did not have the top part latched in correctly. Told the dealer about it and reminded them when it was in the last time--still had to put them in correctly by myself.

I am now in the habit of giving the panels a quick inspect prior to most rides--just to be safe.

There were some problems with the rubber grommets popping out, but have not experienced that with my 2014.

As added insurance (beside the cable and tie wrapped grommets) I put some Velcro pieces on the upper and lower body panel edges as well as on the cover under the chrome Can Am

Guys I have to hold my hands up and say it was all my fault and that's why it hurts even more. I was rushing around getting ready for the ride out that day and I checked my oil levels. I thought it was all clipped in and safe to go:opps: but obviously not. I didn't know about this issue however I'm now looking at a damage limitation program. The CAN-AM chrome logos are being sent over as it was them that took a lot of the damage but the main panel suffered a bit of paint loss so options are now being considered. Getting parts sent over is expensive enough but the TAX is crippling. Stone chips on my RT are at a point where I need to act so it might be a good time to have a new colour coding(WRAP VINYL) Just looked at the new 2015 model and once I stopped being sick I did notice the chrome section under the mirrors which got me thinking!!!what do you guys think of the new shape?

Bummer..!!

know the feeling..not for side panels..it has been an ongoing problem and there have been some quick fix so as not to have them fly away but the best is to check yourself and especially leaving the dealer...

You would not believe.....

You would not believe how many safety straps I have made and installed on side covers
for just about every kind of motorcycle because some one had one blow off :yikes: and they usually get run
over by a car behind them. I make them in several sizes with the gromets on each end to fasten them with.

No strings attached
Covers reinstalled properly. Have caught the dealer not reinstalling panels properly. Always check my spyder before leaving dealership that panels are properly reinstalled.
I always carry extra grommets and some heavy duty velcro to install in case grommets go missing.
Rode 3400 miles this past May with velcro holding my oil panel on because 2 grommets went missing after dealership service.

One zip tie on each grommet and they will never go missing again.

I attached each of my side panels with a safety cord of 1/16" aircraft cable with swaged loops on each end and a carabiner at the frame for service removal. If they do come loose, they will not hit the ground.

I'm one of the lucky ones

I have my spyder serviced a mile away from me, not that I trust the tech guys to put the panels on properly or store them properly when off so I take them all off and the bike rides naked for a mile to the shop. I change my oil so this is not a regular thing, but when it happens the looks are just like when I rode the bike new in 2012.

I've got Baker Airwings. They put more air on you and attach to the side panels. They can't blow off!!

When Harvey put my block-off plates on he put Velcro on it keeps coming unstuck I keep sticking it on but haven't lost a cover!
